Proposed AR-15 tax

Just another piece of legislation that would do nothing to help the true problem. A flurry of words and paper, pre-written and held just for this moment. Another in a myriad of similar worthless bills that somehow appeal to some. All to be followed with a cacophony of, "the sky is falling" vs. "that will never pass". Quite frankly, I am getting exhausted...

Such courageous words from that politician who only Repeats the Mindless Mantras of total party conformity, ignores the network of complex problems which result in the tragedies.

So cowardly to ignore the hundreds of young people killed on city streets, but seldom fit the "mass shooting" definition.

The only solid "political capital" and cash donations seem to result from school shootings.

AK Hunter beat me to it while I plodded on the keyboard.

Best analogy I have heard lately is Gun Control is like Drunk Driving, the plan to stop drunk driving deaths is by keeping sober drivers off the road.

Any preventative policing actions border on Minority Report policing, how can you prevent a crime before someone does something criminal? Only by an abrogation of their rights.

The scary thing is if this passed, SCOTUS would rule in favor of it because SCOTUS is all for empowering the state and its tax powers. See the Obamacare and SD v Wayfair rulings of the past 10 years.

I don't see this passing nationally, but now that the idea has been floated, I wouldn't put it past Blue states to put a 1000% tax on all firearms sales.

Just more money for the politicians to stuff in their pockets.
The only thing that will stop crazy people from killing others is more mental health care.
Well, then pro gun Red states need to figure out where to get the money from to fund that care because it's those states that consistently rank among the poorest ones with mental health care.

Where do the shootings take place? Nebraska? Utah? Or in larger more liberal cities?
Is there a correlation with political demographics that suggest conservatives are the ones shooting places up?
Or is it just assumed that the lack of throwing money around means their nuts?
Perhaps more conservative humans required less mental health intervention?

Maybe instead of trying to make this a “group of humans” problem we should treat it as an only “one human going nuts” problem…

Million and millions of firearms owners didn’t do anything wrong yesterday, even red state ones.

I’d like to see a tax on stupid comments blurted out on TV. If some moron in a suit says something my ten year old can define as “that’s dumb Daddy” and provide proof otherwise, they should be taxed.
A rate of $10,000,000 per phrase of stupidity aught to do it.
Maybe an “ambulance chaser’s tax” every time a Beto wannabe interrupts a meeting their not involved with. Accompanying with a ten day media blackout. After that they will be irrelevant, as the news will have found the Next Thing.

So they want a $10,000 tax on a $1000 rifle?

Sounds reasonable. Or not.

The National Firearms Act of 1934 didn’t ban machine guns, silencers, or short-barreled shotguns and rifles, but rather placed a then-outrageous $200 tax on them.

Today, after 88 years of inflation, $200 is not that prohibitive of a tax.

The gun-grabbers have learned their lesson not to set a dollar amount but rather a percentage tax on these firearms.

With millions upon millions of AR15's already out there, even a freeze (never mind a tax) on production of new ones would do nothing to address the "problem." In fact, each cycle of proposed bans, starting with the AWB of 1994, has spurred more acquisitions. And people have been stockpiling these for years. A "ban" would produce windfall profits for the hoarders.

What ones are not?

Last I checked, I am taxed when:

I make money.
I spend money.
I save money.
I die.

I “bought” my home but if I don’t pay the State money every year, they will take it from me.

Sounds like they have it covered pretty good to me.
buy gold! that’s all I’m saying

You're lucky.....if I refuse to water my lawn and keep it pristine, our HOA can and will file foreclosure proceedings in district court. This isn't an exaggeration.
Other violations would include flying an American flag larger than 3'x5'.

I believe it, my friend. We had an overzealous HOA president a while back that spent his spare time cruising up and down the neighborhood looking for violations. What a guy. I figure he was in training to be a liberal politician.
He did not dare set foot on my property or the fully semi-auto attack cat pictured in my avatar photo would launch herself out of her perch in the garage and tear him a new one.

Another of the, “I have power so I know whats best for you” crowd. Just like those who are drumming the “Ban, ban, ban” guns beat again and again.

Something is going to change Federally. I don’t know what, and being from Ca it probably wont be what we have to deal with anyway, but they’re going to run with this as far as they can.

But hey, on the bright side; diesel just hit $7 freaking bucks a gallon down the street from me. I think I need to order more “I did that! “ stickers from Amazon.

Stay safe.

I’m going to get some and put it on Primers

Do some research on what the WEF has been planning, and implementing through a certain political party and through Europe. Primers and gas are small beans. This is not tinfoil hat sky is falling stuff. The good people at the WEF expect you to have nothing and be happy and to eat bugs.
