HB1016 Gun Dealer "Licensing" Act

There is still time to ask your representative to oppose this bill, if you haven't contacted them already. The bill may be heard today on the floor and debated by the full Illinois House of Representatives.

If you do not know who your state representative is, the Illinois State Board of Elections has an interactive search page here:

http://www.elections.il.gov/DistrictLocator/DistrictOfficialSearchByAddress.aspx

You could also use CapWiz: http://www.capwiz.com/nra/officials/congress

If you know who your representative is, but don't have their contact info, you can also find their contact info here:

www.ilga.gov/house/.

Please call this morning and ask your representative to oppose HB 1016.

Amendment 4

The amendment made some minor changes at the margins, the core bill will still shut down gun shows in Illinois, and drive up the cost of purchasing firearms for everyone in Illinois.

A new interesting provision would allow people to liquidate their collection if necessary, but then they'd be prohibited from purchasing any firearm for 3 years afterwards.

Please oppose this bill by filing witness slips against it.

For Illinois residents, log on to the ILGA Dashboard, Create a New Account, or complete the required fields manually:

I. IDENTIFICATION: Enter your personal information. Enter "NA" for the Firm/Business or Agency and Title fields unless you are officially representing an organization.

II. REPRESENTATION: Enter "Myself" unless representing an organization.

III. POSITION: Unless instructed otherwise for a particular bill leave the description field at its default value "Original Bill". Indicate your position by selecting the "Proponent" or "Opponent" radio button.

IV. TESTIMONY: Select the "Record of Appearance Only" radio button.

If filing manually, complete the Captcha challenge and agree to the ILGA Terms of Agreement.

Then click Create Slip.

Well, they have now made it crystal clear that this is intentionally targeting private sales. Persistent buggers.

I would think one would want to, in the Position section, Add Position and include HFA 4 to HFA 1 so your vote counts on the new amendment. At least that's what I did for both my wife and I.

BTW, I find you don't need to use the ILGA dashboard if you don't care to log in. I just go to House Judiciary - Criminal Committee Hearing Details:

http://my.ilga.gov/Hearing/HearingD...mitteeid=0&chamber=H&nodays=1&_=1464285243187

... and under the Witness Slips column you can view the witness slip vote by clicking on the left icon and create a witness slip by clicking on the right icon.

Thanks for keeping us up to date C0untZer0.

Apparently they've amended this bill for the fifth time in an effort to get it pushed through. If you haven't done so, please call your representatives and keep calling.

Amendment 6 is now in play. Please fill out those witness slips, and call your reps.

The slips are over 100 to zero in our favor right now. Amendment 4 was over 1100 to 10 or 15 I think. And still they persist.

DAMN they ARE persistent.

That bill keeps getting worse and worse. You can tell the author is actively looking at mitigating every argument thrown at it by gun owners, as evidenced by raising the # of guns from 8 to 10 you can sell per year, etc.

You can see the fatigue setting in.

There were 5,000 witness slips filed in opposition to amendment 1, they now are on amendment 6 which is basically the same bill - but we're only able to muster 368 witness slips in opposition to it.

Perhaps, as I said previously, a person has to Add Position and include the description HFA 6 to select that position to actually oppose it.

There's a drop down menu which allows you to select HFA 1, 4 or 6. The default is HFA 1, and I'm wondering if people know they should select a different option. The good news is that Amendment 6 has been defeated for now. It looks like they'll be back at it Sunday, so we need to keep the pressure up.

At least we know numbers now. 43 for 55 against

They need 6 swing votes to make it happen.

That's a wider margin than we had on the assault weapons ban isn't it?

ETA: Looked at the actual votes instead of the tally. There were 8 excused absences and 12 NV's.

Of those excused half are sponsors so that'd bring them to 48

Acevedo (Sponsor)
Anthony
Davis (monique) (Sponsor)
Evans (Sponsor)
Jones
Reaves-Harris (Sponsor)
Riley
Stewart

Anthony has made pro-gun statements before and sponsored the suppressor bill. (48-56)

Jones is anti-gun (49-56)
Riley is anti-gun (50-56)

Stewart .. I dunno?

The NV's

Bellock (anti)
Burke,Kelly (Sponsor)
DeLuca (VERY anti)
Dunkin (ULTRA anti)
Gordon-Booth (very anti)
Kifowit (anti gun)
Rita (anti-gun)
Sandack (Pro gun)
Sosnowski (pro-gun)
Sullivan (pro gun)
Winger (pro gun)
Yingling (anti gun)

So another sponsor there.. that brings it to 51-56

The anti's on the NV are 7... the pro gunner 4.

That brings it to 58-60

That's.. not good. That means they just need a session where the "right" people are present.. Brian Stewart is the only one I couldn't find info on. Any idea where he stands on guns? I couldn't find much on him.

ETA #2 corrected my math

Anthony is my rep, and he is pro-gun. He sponsors CCW classes regularly in the area.

He took Pam Roth's place when she moved to TX. He's been pretty good so far. Our senator is also pro-gun, Sue Rezin.

Very unusual for this state.

Kind of funny Dunkin was a NV

I don't know how much Madigan actually cares about this bill - after getting some of that Bloomberg cash, he's done his rule-bending, deadline-extending routine.

But if Madigan did care about the bill, Dunkin gets to give him the middle finger one last time before he leaves :)

Count - Illinois Carry usually sends me an email alert about these things. I had already done slips for #1 & #4 but hadn't heard about #6.
So I went back and hit all three.

Thanks for posting this :cuss: !!

:D

Amendment 6 failed on the House Floor by a 43 to 55 vote.

They won't give up though, Americans for Responsible Solutions is desperate for some kind of win that they can tout and use for talking points on how the NRA can be beaten, and they picked Illinois as a spot where they thought they could score an easy victory.

Amendment 7 coming up today

You might think that if Amendment 6 failed then Amendment 7 doesn't stand a chance, but some legislators left for the Memorial Day holiday - others didn't. Kathleen Willis and some of the other staunch anti-gun representatives are trying to contact their anti-gun colleagues to come back to Springfield to vote on this.

It's crazy, trying to wait for a holiday when the House should be adjourned, but hoping that enough members of the other party go on vacation so they can sneak legislation through...

They're nuts! Just... plain nuts.

The suppressor bill DID pass the house today, though.

:)

And then the senate would not read the bill, letting time expire. Next chance is next Wednesday from what I understand.

This state has to find a way to vote out the 2 guys running things. Although, for some reason, the Big Magoo himself actually voted for the suppressor bill in the House. I wonder what he wanted for doing that?

In this state, it really doesn't matter who the governor is. The 2 guys really run the state. I won't mention their names, but anybody from IL knows them, and anybody from outside doesn't care who they are.

Time "served"

Oddly enough, there was an article in the local paper today that mentioned the number of years these two "rear-end orifices" have been in Springfield.
They have been there for 46 (House) and 37 (Senate) years. :what:

May they BOTH have massive coronaries or strokes SOON!!
