I can give you an example...in my little town of 4k people in middle of no where PA, back during the George Floyd BS...a BLM chapter from way out of county decided that wanted to have a protest at the county park. Fine, they did...but what made me proud...EVERY HOUSE in the area, had a house member standing outside ARMED TO THE TEETH as a show of force. The local cops....they were all on board too. Needless to say, outside a couple you tube videos of the Commie anti American POS group crying about the lack of warm "welcome"....there was surprisingly no violence.

The community wasn't having that garbage in our neigbour hood. Legal? Maybe, maybe not...but it was awesome to see!

"Standing outside"? Targets. What would they have done had things gone downhill?

Simple...all HELL would have rained down on them...they knew it, we knew it, the local police (and the couple state troopers there) knew it.

They had NO BUINESS being here, none what so ever. No locals were protesting, the issue had nothing to do with us, it was happening 800 miles away from us.

Those people were nothing but trouble makers looking to spread their poison.

They got a proper run out...and I'm damn proud of my neighbors.

It was great watching one of our cops drive his crusher right through the middle of their March too. Sirens and lights blaring...moving at a good clip...they scattered like the roaches they were.

Thats how we knew...the Blue was with us too!

After some of the folks "standing guard" had been bumped off?

In your opinion. The Constitution says otherwise. You did say

You haven't thought this through very well.

"Standing guard" outside is a very imprudent position in which to put oneself. All downside, no upside.

that is completely off the topic or armed citizens protecting the community.

If that armed show of force had erupted in violence, there would e a lot of proud members of that community in serious legal trouble if not prison. It shouldn't be, but that's the case in this country.

They had a right to protest sure.....somewhere else. None of those lowlifes were local tax payers...not citizens of the town, county...and I doubt even state.. Part of the national organization looking to infest their garbage everywhere.. We made it known they were not welcome here.
Far as the cop....Wrong...goes right to my point. The cop is a member of our community.

I can see you are a lefty, and has one, there is no possible way to make you see reason...so I'll leave it at that.

In Florida, (and citing actual Florida law here) elected sheriffs may appoint special deputy sheriffs to:
    - Aid in preserving law and order, or to give necessary assistance in the event of any threatened or actual hurricane, fire, flood, or other natural disaster, or in the event of any major tragedy such as an act of local terrorism or a national terrorism alert, an airplane crash, a train or automobile wreck, or a similar accident.
    - Raise the power of the county, by calling bystanders or others, to assist in quelling a riot or any breach of the peace, when ordered by the sheriff or an authorized general deputy.

The law also says that these special deputy sheriffs do not have to have a law enforcement background or have any required training.

It matters who you elect as sheriff. Some sheriffs in progressive Florida counties would never take such an action. It matters if the sheriffs you elect still believe in the constitution and that power is derived from the people.

US and state laws still have mechanisms for the people to resume power over the government.
Many US and state laws still reflect the ideals of our country’s founding.

For example, most Americans today have no idea about jury nullification to curb improper prosecution by the government.

Or that grand juries throughout the 1800s and early 1900s used to investigate government corruption and criminal acts by government officials on their own, outside of influence or pressure from the department of justice or local prosecutors and local courts, and issue bills of presentment to arrest and charge people who broke the law.

The Fifth Amendment specifically grants this power to Federal grand juries, most states grand juries also have this power. We began to lose this people power in 1945 when the Supreme Court issued The Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure. The Rules deliberately make no provision for presentments; they ignore the Constitution.

Do you realize that in one potential example, any federal grand jury today, on its own, without needing permission from a federal judge or prosecutor, could investigate the FBI’s recent illegal actions taken to seize Joe Biden’s daughter’s diary from one particular news organization.

America can really be restored back to its founding as a constitutional, representative republic when we assume back the powers that were reserved to us and exercise them.

If you like this post, tell friends you know about these powers, if enough know, maybe they’ll starting demanding they be used.

Stand guard over business/personal property IS a different issue than a statue.

Is at legal to assemble? Is at legal to be armed? Would be issues.

The miscreants intent on removing the statue are looking for publicity, not a fight. Facing an armed, mad citizenship does not fit their plan and the will not stop. (Seen this in Texas, on more than one occassion)

Being asked to help guard a business, when riots, burning, looting have happened and Police let it happen IS a totally different scenario.

I was asked to help guard the Mall in Galveston, after a major hurricane. A good friend was a Deputy Sheriff. Recruited a few of us. We were DEPUTIZED and ARMED. Given instructions by the DA to shoot all looters entering the Mall.

    TOTALLY different scenario from Rittenhouse.

How or why he was there, I don't believe, has bearing on the cases. The fact is, he was attacked by and armed felon and defended himself. Coulda, shoulda, woulda, up to that point, is irrelevant. IMHO
