I found some 180grain bullets for a good price, I was wondering if anyone has used these for hunting. How’d they work?

I’ve never used them for hunting, but I’ve shot them in quite a few calibers. 270 Win, 30-06, 308, 375 H&H, 243 Win, 30-30, 223, and maybe a couple others that I can’t remember. I’ve always found them to be fairly to very accurate. Sub MOA in my 375 H&H and 308, as well as my old 243 and 270 that I no longer have. From what I understand, their construction is similar to Remington CoreLocks , so they should get the job done with no problem.

I was in a store and found a plastic bag of these ppu bullets. Look carefully at what your getting, as they were half the price of 175 Smks but there was 50 in the bag. That's not value.

There are at least a half dozen commercial labels offering hunting specific rounds using those very bullets in a variety of calibers. Some are PPU companies/labels, and some are others. If you do your part, they will perform just fine. If you end up chasing your deer all night with a flashlight, and flourescent/black light looking for blood trail...I would say that it was not the projectiles fault. ;)

This part of your answer is the stock reply for 95 percent of bullets.
It's also the first thing folks want to question.

I've used 2 different PRVI bullets on deer. The 150 SP and 174 BTSP in 7,62x54R and 7,5X55 Swiss respectively from factory ammunition. Both acted like soft points. They will kill a deer.

On paper, I've been generally impressed with PRVI bullets, attaining accuracy comparable to Hornady, Speer, Sierra, Nosler.

I’ve used the 150gr Spt and 165gr BTSpt .30cal, 100gr .243, and 100gr .257” bullets to kill deer.

They work just like Sierra, Speer, or Hornady bullets of similar designs.
Accuracy is just a little bit below Sierra’s. (You get what you pay for...).
The 100gr .257” was fired from a .257wby at 3,550fps. 140yd shot exited a heart lung shot on 180lb 10pt buck.
The most accurate bullets from my REM Mod-7 is the PPU 120gr BTHPT match bullet. The lot# I had would shoot 1/2” at 100yds 5-shots over 42.5gr IMR4350.
I’ve shot a LOT of PPU bullets.
But, as OP noted, they aren’t attractively priced now.
Just like Remington components just before they disappeared from the market; if I’ve got to pay “Sierra” prices, I’ll just buy Sierra! And get Sierra quality.

I have shot a pile of them in the past. Lower cost than premium bullets but way more accurate than FMJ at slightly more cost per unit. Treated them like range bullets but would trust them for hunting as well as any cup and core bullet.
We will see how cost ends up after this silliness is long past. Hope they still cost less than domestic ones by then.
