I'm just getting into reloading. One of the calibers I plan to reload for is 30-30. Quality ammo is reasonably pricy in the 1.00 per round neighborhood. I have found some bulk purchase of Prvi Partizan for about .60 per round. I'm likely to buy it anyway at that price just to shoot it, but I'm curious if anyone has any experience or opinions about using the brass for reloading after I've shot the factory loads out of it. I'd probably be reloading cast lead into it, rather than jacketed stuff.

Thanks!

Ppu rifle brass has shown me great results when reloading. Pistol brass has been mixed from them. If your needing cases watch the pay it forward thread. This time of year we range scrounges will find a bunch as people start sighting in their deer rifles, and some folks don't load it. I use as much as I can horde up, but if my coworker comes through with his "big ol box of brass" that he promised me I can probably stand to send ya some.

Thanks for the feedback. No expectations, obviously, but if you find yourself in possession of some brass you don't need, I'll take it off your hands.

I really like ppu brass for rifles.

I think ive got some mixed 30-30 brass if you want it...i used to use them for my 7-30 but i came into a lot of correct cases a while back. Not sure how much 30-30 brass i have, but pm me your address and you can have it

I have reloaded a lot of PPU in .303 and .30-06. Very happy with it. .38 S&W and .38 special have worked, as well.

Loonwulf you and I must be long lost cousins or something. Between feeding my 336 and my 7-30 I don't have much brass to spare, but I do have a few correct 7-30s too. Glad you can help him out, that's why I love this place so much. Folks are always ready and willing to help.

Lol West, then im in good company. Yeah the 7-30 brass is kinda hard to find, if i run across anymore lots locally ill grab them and share some.

Always worked as well for me as any other brass that I have used in either 9mm Parabellum or .223 Remington.

I have had bad individual cartridge cases from many different manufacturers, but I have so far encountered no particular headstamp whose boxer-primed brass case I would automatically pitch into the recycling bin.

Any brass that I don't think of myself as at least strongly "wanting" (if not actually "needing") is in such a condition, I doubt you want. For that matter, I doubt you could sell it to a metal recycler.

I find ppu brass to be overly thick across the board. Not a bad thing unless you plan to load up lead cast bullets- which you do mention. RP brass is thin and is nice for loading lead.

Of the 10 calibers I reload, 30-30 range brass is the hardest thing for me to find. You would think it would be everywhere.

The PPU 30-30 that I have loaded has done fine, I am at my 3rd cycle on some right now.

It's not Lapua brass, but I've never had any problem with it in 9x18 mak, 7x57, 8x57, 308 Win, 30-06, or 7.62x54R.

I guess you've been lucky enough to have never encountered AMERC brass!

You might give these fine folks a try they have some 30 - 30 once fired brass

PPU or nny (in Cyrillic) is very good brass IMHO.

Haven't used a lot of handgun cases, but the rifle brass ( .223, 5.56x45 & 7.62x54R) I've had good experience with.

I'm working through 400 25-06 new PPU brass a buddy and I just purchased. I don't buy new brass so I'm not sure if the higher end brass comes ready to load and shot or not but the PPU brass needed some work. Ran it all through the full length sizer die and noticed that some of the case necks went over the expander ball very easy so it defiantly needs sized before loaded the first time. Case lengths are all over the place so I trimmed it all to minimum case length. Primer pockets are tight but a few turns of the RCBS primer pocket uniformer takes care of that. I have not shot the 25-06 brass yet so I can't comment on its longevity but so far it appears to be just fine.
