Just thought I'd pass this info along to others who may be looking at 1911s in 9mm since they are more difficult to find. I called Taurus today to ask when their's will be released and was told 'this winter' and 'around the end of the year'. I'm taking that to mean next spring, at best.

I know some don't like Taurus but I'm in no hurry so I'm keeping my options open.

I'd buy one! My wife loves to shoot 9mms and also likes 1911s.
A win-win for her.

If they come out with a 9mm then I will for sure buy one! I just don' think there are enough manufacturers making 1911s in 9mm. They are considerably cheaper to shoot than .45. I guess I need to start rolling my change!

A full length 1911 in 9mm is fun to shoot. ZERO recoil. If it can't be hit accurately with a 9mm 1911 it can't be hit. Honestly, it's almost like shooting a .22LR pistol.

An Officer's length 9mm 1911 is another beast all together. Recoil is, well, eye-opening.

Personally I'm looking for a full size ( 5 inch barrel) in 9mm. I've never shot one (1911) in 9mm but would expect it to be fun. Cheaper to shoot is the main goal.

Like others have said , a full size steel 1911 in 9mm is a "blast" to shoot -- VERY little recoil , cheaper then 45/40 , and who cares is ya find all your brass !!!

I had/have a few --- the Colt Combat Commander is the one I regreat selling.

If I have too, I'll put my teenage daughter to work to get the money for one. :D

I want one NOW!!! :p

Ok, I'll be the jerk. :)

I hate 9mm 1911s. It's sacreligious.

I really despise Taurus 1911s. (I love Taurus, just not their 1911s).

I hope you all still love me :).

I have several 9mm 5"/full size 1911's, of both Springfield and Kimber lineage. They are, collectively, my favorite pistols in all the world.

If Taurus made one, I'd probably try it.

I've double stack 1911 (Armscor 1911-A2 Para P18 clone) and it rocks. Its by far the centerfire pistol I shoot the most, largely for the ammo costs.

I'd jump all over a single stack 5" 1911 in 9mm.

Ive been waiting for this gun for a while, I have alot of 9mm ammo and I love 1911's.
I alredy have a pt1911 and Im really impressed with it, I think the 9mm version would be alot of fun.

Where'd you get the Armscor para 18 clone, wally? I would be very interested in getting one of those!

My first 1911 was a Colt Combat Commander in 9mm. I really regret getting rid of that gun.

While I am always looking for another 9mm Colt. IF this comes out I will take a look. A. 9mm 1911 is fun to shoot. I just do not want to tie a lot of money up in non-Colt 1911.

This should be cheap enough to give a try.

just picked up a springer loaded in 9mm, i like SA over Taurus, ill give a range report soon

Got My Attention

I already have the Taurus PT-911 in 9mm.

Notice the missing "1" -- it's a 911, not a 1911.

It's a 15-round double stacker that seems to have a Beretta 92 ancestry.

It's an all-metal gun. It shoots better than I do. I couldn't group with it worth a darn (ironic, because I group well with my wife's Millenium Pro), and one of the local instructors proceeded to empty a magazine into a 2-inch circle at 15 yards. Handed it back and said, "nice gun!"

My experiences with Taurus to date have all been positive, if limited in scope.

I'm thinking a 9mm 1911 by Taurus would be something to own.

I agree. This is the first time I've been excited about a new pistol coming out in a long time.

The problem of what pistol I want, need, should get next is solved. ;)

AFAIC, Browning designed pistols are the way God intended bullets to be fired.

I can see how people look down on owning a 9mm 1911. I think you're going to have a 1911, your first one should be in .45. But if you've already got one in .45, then a 9mm would certainly be something nice.

I'll be keeping my eye out for one!

Dan Wesson has a full size 1911 in 9mm I would love to get my hands on.

front strap checkering, clark-style target rib, fiber optic front and adjustable rear sights. yumm yumm :p

I have a 1911 in .45 and a 6" 1911 in 9mm. The 9mm is fun to shoot and if I want to be a purest I shoot the .45. However; there isn't a range trip that I don't shoot the 9mm.

Where'd you get the Armscor para 18 clone, wally? I would be very interested in getting one of those!

I got it direct from Armscor via Ivan, who has been on various 1911 forums as Blackdragon. They turn up on Gunbroker from time to time. They should import more of them and a 9mm single stack as well.

The problem with the STI etc. is it seems counter productive to spend a lot of money on a gun who's purpose is to be able to shoot cheap ammo.

That's also where most of the .1911 .22 conversion kits fall short -- most don't function well with the cheap bulk pack ammo.

maskedman504 - I would love to have a Dan Wesson but my understanding is that they only make a few each year, which makes them hard to come by either new or used. They're also out of the price range I was thinking of. But given the right circumstances the DW would be my first choice for a production 1911.
