Jake McCoy, Mr Rogers, and I am interested in getting a 'push the boundaries' suit in DC, specifically to challenge their "revolvers only" rule.

Specifically, we need a:
D.C. resident who is willing to purchase a gun, similar to what the police carry, but also qualifies as a machine gun under D.C. law. That person must own no other guns, be willing to register the pistol, have it confiscated, and be prepared to file suit.
The gun will be the sole property of the D.C. resident, and the only ties to THR members are the donations and fuzzy feelings. Preferably we should get this person an arm that was transferred through a FFL dealer to avoid any ownership or legality of transfer issues.

Person to organize donations- which JakeMccoy has volunteered to do.

Those are details. For the DC homeowner who is up for it, I'll set up a contract and help donate the money so that the homeowner can buy the gun him/herself. Preferably, it's the homeowner's only gun so that the point of the suit doesn't get lost due to the homeowner's accepted guns.

FFL dealer who can transfer the gun.

Donations for the gun.

Stay tuned for more details. This post will be edited with updates as necessary.

Yes. The first step is to get a trustworthy DC homeowner who has no other accepted guns.

Also, I have to doubt I'm the first one with this idea. It might already be in the works actually. If anybody knows, I'd like to jump on board and contribute. Please inform.

I know of no one.
But am very willing to jump on board and offer financial assistance.
Fenty and his adminstration of Constitutional denying traitors must be brought to the dock.
These loser's day's are numbered.
I'm very willing to help keep that number small.:D

From photographs of Chief Cathy Lanier, at least one of those guns is a Glock--presuambly a Glock 22. That's a "machine gun" under D.C. law because its capacity can be 29 rounds of .40 S&W with a Scherer magazine. So it's a "machine gun" even as delivered by Glock.

I have a hunch that there would be an interesting--and potentially useful--reply if someone e-mailed the Washington PD's public relations officer and asked the question directly as guidance for acquiring a similar handgun so that there would be no doubt about its legality. The Washington police department most certainly would not do anything illegal.

At any rate, the question of what the rest of the police carry could be handled most easily in discovery. My hunch is that it also would reveal what city officials--perhaps even Adrian Fenty--and other prominent Washington residents had at their homes under license by the city.

My further hunch is that it's the stage at which the city begs to know what it would take to make this suit go away, because my still further hunch is that at least some of the people and some of the guns licensed by the city would cause a great deal of embarrassment and furor when made public.
