"If" I can get out of school, I'll be out there. Although this is not likely, because I have to miss 3 days of school for the Junior Olympics! Season opens on the 20th, runs for a couple weeks.

Nothing yet. I have my work cut out for me this year. My two boys want to hunt. I am taking two brothers turkey hunting from our last hunter ed class. I talked with them earlier this evening and mom wants to try and get a turkey as well. None of the three have any or much shooting experience. My buddy wants me to take him and his daughter out as well. I currently have a total of 7 people wanting me to take them out for thier first turkey. My oldest son took his first last year so I guess. The count is 6 first timers and one 9 year old looking for his second.

I've heard a gobbler up behind the house. Went last week to see if I could spot him, but he stopped talking whenever I entered the woods (roosting time I reckon).

I've not heard any gobble so far this year. Weather's been rough here in TN, though. We're actually having snow this morning. That's really rare here even in the winter, not to mention April.

It snowed here this morning too. :neener:

Yep, here, too. Not snow, but today we tied a record low, low temp of 27 degrees this AM on April 7. This is good I think as last year then mating season was all but over it seemed when the season started. I think this year the mating should start just about the time I get out there this weekend, with any luck. Glad to have this late push of cold. I couldn't get any gobble responses in March when I went down to hunting grounds, so this is a good sign for April, I'm hoping. I really want to get one with a bow this year, having never have done that, but first I'm potting one with a 12 ga. Want to try out this gobbler guillotine doohickey. :)

I've seen the videos of those things. You gotta take some pictures of their performance on a turkey neck.

It's starting to snow sideways here now, temperature dropped a bit too I believe.

Skunked. Damn feral dogs and cold fronts!

don't feel too bad. I roosted a nice Gobbler, got up at 3 am the next morning and hiked in. He was gobbling as I got there. I got set up, and him and I went back and forth for about 20 minutes without him budging, no visual, maybe 150 yards out. Then all of a sudden, nothing, not a peep. I don't know what the heck happened.

not mine but still a good bird. I hope to get out around the first. their will only be one week left but maybe they will still be talking:eek:

Got mine Thursday afternoon. 26# 10 oz. 10 inch beard. SP-10 Remington with Hevi-Shot. That stuff is AWESOME.

I'll post pix when I get them.

My sons First Bird.....

We were able to get on two birds at the same time. So not only did he get his first but I killed my BEST bird and we did it at the exact same second.....

You can see it was a raining morning but the hunting was great. We had a total of 6 Bog Toms come in right off the roost. The were gobbling like crazy all morning which made for an exciting hunt......
