Hey guys, I could use some help. I need to put a rear sling swivel on an adjustable stock on a DPMS AR-15 that will fit the typical M14 GI web sling. The top of the stock has a slot that I could use, but I'd really like to have a sling swivel on the bottom.

In the pic below... I imagine this round piece is a place for me to install it? What hardware do I need to buy and how do I install one?

Thanks for your help.

If you attach a sling to the "round piece" (adjustment plunger) won't that be continually activating the length-adjustment mechanism?

I think you could drill a hole in the support rib for the buttpiece. Then just install a QD swivel through the hole. Can't vouch for the ruggedness or longevity of that mod though.

this isn't on an AR but it is the same stock, there should be a slot in the triangle gusset run a piece of nylon strap through it the rest is visible in these pics

well it won't let me re-upload the pics and I got no idea how to get to em otherwise so....

go lookup the thread "scope mount for an AK" scroll down to my user I.D and ya'll see pics of how to install the sling on the M4 stock.

Sorry couldn't make it easier for ya but this site is really a pain to use for images etc...

Dstorm1911, Is this what you wanted to show me?

Thanks, but I don't think that will do what I want. I want to be able to use a standard M14 sling that clips at the rear so that I can unclip it and sling up to shoot prone or sitting.

It appears from the first couple replies that the "round thing" isn't an attachment point for a sling swivel. (If you can't tell, I'm new to ARs). :)

So is there anything I can do to have a rear sling swivel on the bottom of this stock so I can sling up while shooting prone/sitting?

Ya simply clip your metal M14 clip to the nylon or use para cord in its place etc... I have a similar setup on a Riot gun but used a nylon quik plip buckle at the butt with another at the tang so it can be used either as a standard sling or as a single point when the stock is collapsed etc... I never really cared for the M14 slings as the metal clip makes too much noise myself, the quik buckle I'm reffering to is used extensivly on current holsters, gun belts and slings etc... used my Law enforcement and military makes for a silent easily adjusted sling swivel.

As to the pic the other side of the rifle is what ya want to see........... the setup for installing is much clearer in the right side pic. once ya have the strap on the stock then ya can mount any sling ya want in various configurations etc... to do the quik buckle ya just run the adjustment loop of the sling through the buckle place the corresponding other half of the bucle on the strap add an extra buckle half to the tang area and your all set... plus ya can run the quik buckles at each end if ya want so it can become a sngle point sling just by unclipping from the forward position and clipping to the tang with the rear buckle....... unlimited versatility ;)
