    Hi folks. I have a post-ban Mini-14, serial # prefix 186.
Have the receivers and stocks been redesigned at all since the ban? For instance, will a stock designed to fit a 180 series fit a 186 series? I know that some stocks, like side-folders, are illegal to put on a post-ban rifle, but my basic question is....are all mini-14 stocks interchangeable?

Hypothetically....(I would never EVER do this of course....just asking for a friend of a friend, etc.) would a Butler Creek folding stock fit on a post-ban rifle?

    Thanks for any hypothetical conjecture.

As far as I know, any stock designed for the Mini 14 will fit any given model-Although don't take that entirely as gospel, as the 180 series have some quirks-I just don't know about the stock.

As far as your question of a Butler Creek folder fitting a "post ban", yes it will. In fact, Butler Creek now has a non-folding version for those that want the look of the folder on a post ban rifle.

181-series and later stocks should fit your gun. AFAIK, stocks made for a 180 series won't.

Choate also makes a non-folding pistol grip stock that I really like (have one on my 188-series mini).

All aftermarket stocks are made for the 181 series and higher. I have a 180 series that I had to live with. It HAD a wood stock on it but some "gangsta" hacked the stock off behind the pistol grip and then duct taped it. Cops caught it and I bought it at Auction for $180 (wow, that's a strange coincidence). Anyhow, I had a Choate folding stock that I didn't like on my Ithaca 37 so I adapted it to the wooden stock of the 180 series mini and POOF! I had an instant assault rifle. Strangely, I felt more evil afterwards.

IIRC, the 181 series has a shorter stock. Not sure.
