    Hi,

I recently ordered a Silencerco Osprey 40 which is said to come in a thread pitch of .578x28 TPI.

I am about to order a Storm Lake threaded barrel for the pistol I intend to use it with, a S&W M&P 40. My two options for the barrel are 9/16x24 and 9/16x28.

.578 is pretty close to 9/16 but a little bigger. I assume the barrel and the suppressor would not be compatible until I purchase a 9/16" "piston" for the osprey (extra $75).

Is this correct? If so, would it be more desirable to get a 9/16x24 or a 9/16x28 barrel?

    Thanks in advance.

Considering the Osprey Piston only comes in 9/16 with a 24 tpi pitch, I would definately go with that. You can specify the piston you want when you order it. (At least I did when I ordered mine.)

I ordered mine off gunbroker and the pitch wasn't specified. I'd read here that the standard osprey pitch was .578x28 TPI, so I assumed that's what they all came with. Are you saying that 9/16x24 is the standard pitch? That's good news to me if so. Mine is already at my dealer so I guess I could call them and ask to be sure.

.578x28 I believe is the "standard" for .45 ACP supressor threads, at least that is how my SIG TACOPS and FNP Tactical came from the factory.

I'm pretty sure 9/16x24 is what you want for your .40S&W Osprey. If you order an Osprey 45 I believe it comes with a .578x28 piston unless you specify something else. If you order an Osprey 40 I believe 9/16x24 will be what it comes with by default.

I've and Osprey 45 and also use it with 9mm Glock Lone Wolf barrel 1/2x28 and 9mm RAA AR15 1/2x36 by buying extra pistons.

Just an FYI to anyone wondering, mine came with a 9/16x24 thread pitch after checking.
