Fuff, (and anyone else who wishes to respond.......)
This is the rear sight on my newly acquired 1968 S&W Model 34-1. It fits well, and I spotted another 34-1 with an identical rear sight on Gun Broker. Still, the vertical serrations are so unlike any other S&W rear sight that I have to ask if it's original. Any idea?

Could it be a King rear sight?

Yup, it's original. That particular style of sight was used exclusively on J-frame models that came with adjustable sights, and with the exception of the .22, and .22 WRM kit guns was seldom seen. That's why most folks haven't noticed the difference.

Real good picture you took there...

Good deal! It is so different, I almost did not buy the revolver. I started to wonder if it had a Rossi rear sight grafted on it.
Glad I didn't pass now. This one has become a quick favorite!

    ON SECOND THOUGHT!! :what:

That sight REALLY, really isn't right. It does look like something off off one of them South American guns... Fortunately I would be willing to take the junker off your hands if the price wan't too high ... Say like... ah ... $25.00 cash money?? :D
