    Sir,
Just to let you know, pit duty is one of the aspects of this competition that makes me nervous, just because I would not want to wreck somebody's day by gooofing up somebody's score!
I have an idea of what needs to happen while on duty, but I will not know for sure until the actual.

Yes, I will be using a 1-4.5x30mm optic. Not a very expensive one, but one that I think will work if I do my part.

In the m16 match all competitors are given a rack grade m16. Expect an insanely heavy gritty trigger.
It’s a fun match but everyone’s scores will be lower than normal.
Usually the rifle will be laying on the line when you get there.

I picked up 4 leg points there.

    Good information!
I will sign up for an event scheduled at the end of September. It is a monthly aggregate 800. 80 rounds all together.
I am about 4 hours away from CMP Talladega, and if I wake up early enough, I could make it a one day trip.
There is no points to be earned on this type of competition, but it will be a good way to build confidence.

    Your input is much appreciated.

A couple of buddies shot in this years, and said that they no longer use the GI M16's. If memory serves what they said, they are RRA NM's (or equivalent). They said the triggers were pretty nice.

    ETA: Heavy barrel Bushmasters

As for the pits, you'll be squadded with someone else. Assuming they know what they are doing, they'll guide you along.

    Good info!
I will see if I qualify to participate on the M-16 match.

You might try this from the AZ Gun owners website. Copy and paste in your browser. It's a video of the just finished Camp Perry Nationals. If this doesn't work check YOU tube for "GCA Camp Perry CMP Games Experience":

Pretty good video. Only covers the Games matches though. They are run quite a bit differently than the P100 and National Match, but the info about Perry is good.
