Does Hornady ever load with Winchester brass? Reason I am asking is that I bought several boes of 223 and all but one have Winchester headstamp brass. Did I get someones reloads for factory ammo. I did not want to jump the gun, but all Hornady ammo I have seen has Hornady headstamp. Thanks for your replies.

You could call Hornady and ask, but I would be very suspicious that Winchester reloads were placed in the factory Hornady boxes. :cuss:

Show the Winchester headstamp rounds to the seller who sold them to you and demand your money back - then buy from a reliable vendor. :fire:

Over the years, I have seen a lot of damage (including KaBooms) caused by "shiny cheap ammunition" bought at gun shows.

I would assume you bought several boxes of reloads in winchester boxes. All Hornady factory ammo is headstamped Hornady.

I bought several boxes of Hornady ammo, but the brass says Winchester and the bullet is the V max. I will call Hornady monday and ask there.

There's no way Hornady factory ammo was made with Winchester brass. You did not get what you paid for...

Hornady does occasionally use Winchester and LC brass when demand is very high. If you're still suspicious, feel free to call Hornady themselves and ask a rep.

I would definitely do that. And if you can post their reply it would be appreciated because that sounds awfully strange.

Well I called Hornady first thing Monday morn. Gave them the lot number, and he looked it up and says. They were loaded in Winchester headstamped brass. He noted that on occasions they also load in LC brass. I sure never knew that! Made me feel a lot better knowing they are factory and not someones reloads. Good shooting.

Kinda throws cold water on the theory of Hornady Brass having a greater value than Winchester and LC Brass. At least in the eyes of Hornady. Seems to be a compromise to keep the production lines running?

Perhaps. Or perhaps the affect of different brass manufacturers still produces ammo within their quality spec.

interesting as I would say have of the WIN brass I pick up at my range does not fit in my Hornady press.....the rims are slightly smaller than all other 9mm brass.....Hornady nor Winchester has an explanantion for this....

Does Hornady make their own brass or is it contracted out to someone else?

I know it has Hornady stamped on it, but is it made by someone else?

I had heard that about the bullets ... just wondered about the brass. I had some 270 Win brass (Hornady) that was good brass.

I would have lost money on a bet Hornady didn't use any other brass than their own. Thanks for the information...

Ever wonder why 'brand loyalty' doesn't mean much anymore? - lol - With all the corporate buyouts and off-shore out-sourcing the only difference in a lot of products is what label they threw on the same tubs of goo or hunks of metal or gizmos.

I know I have watched the same tanker truck fill the storage tanks of different brand gasoline stations. Appliances? Care to guess how few different manufacturers there are making different "brand names"?

We are all mostly paying for advertising, not real products.

All of my Hornady OAL gauge cases are Winchester headstamped :)
