question on MP5

I think they think it is fishy because the pricing is VERY low for even a transferable sear or reciever (or whatever the part on the MP5). They think it may be an illegal conversion or something worse (not an MP5 and not full auto).

Still, a good friend of mine is joining the NFA circle by buying a MAC10 from a friend of his. He wants to try to sell the upper and get the slow fire ones. Pretty cool. But he is getting it literally for a steal: 3000$ The MACs from what he tells me, are THE cheapest way of entering into the machinegun world.

What from my post sounds "fishy/inaccurate"? I am telling you what was relayed to me.

A repairable registered receiver would probably sell for 6-7k (maybe more), even if every part in the gun was trashed and it required a total rebuild with a new parts kit.

A registered sear (which you could put in another weapon) is worth 10k+.

That's why people are questioning it.

For the record, chopped parts kits (no receiver, not built, etc) are $1500, that's why people are questioning it.

The lowest-end clones are what he's asking these days, in semi-auto.

I gotcha guys. Like I said, I am as new as they come to the C3 world. I kinda figure it is too good to be true. Still waiting on my friend to call back.

He apparently sold it. My friend said he got 2400 or $2700 for it. ah well. Might have him keep an eye out for some other stuff for me.

rfurtkamp: I was referring to agency pricing for buying them for LE work as a department brand new from H&K. HK may hate us, but they do love to sell to PD's :)
