I'm wondering if being able to switch out the chokes on your shotgun is required or just beneficial when shooting in 3 gun matches. Thanks for any help.

Not required. Most people find a favorite choke they prefer for 3Gun and stick with it for a very long time. I've used Modified in my Benelli 99% of the time since 2003. That said, I would probably not buy one that I could not change chokes in.

Ok, thanks. I've got two barrels for my shotgun now, one has a IC (20 inches) and you can't change out for other chokes, the other I use for bird hunting (28 inch) and while you can change out chokes I'm thinking the barrel would be way too long for competition. Thanks again.

If you change chokes, be sure you know where slugs impact with both chokes, in case there is a mixed slug/other stage.

I have never changed a choke at a match. From flip up clays at 10 yards to a larue at 110 yards I use the same choke.
