Question: pre-ban Uzi Model A legal for CA and CT?

I bought this pre-1986 Israeli-made Uzi 9mm Para IMI Model A with 16'' barrel in perfect condition and five 25 rds magazines for $1499 + tax.

I was told by the gunshop owner that this piece is perfectly legal to own in all states including California because it is made pre-assault weapon's ban, and I am posting to make sure that this is an accurate statement.

About hi-cap mag, it came with 5 IMI original 25 rd mags, and since the mags were also made before the federal and CA hi-cap ban, is it legal to use in gun ranges in California?

If you lived in Kali prior to the ban and then registered it when the ban came around then yes, it would be legal. Right now it's banned and you're not allowed to bring hi-cap mags into the state either.

This dealer needs to re-read the gun laws for each state before he gets one of his customers in hot water. Just because it's a preban doesn't make it legal here, it had to be registered here.

there is no way to make a firearm that is banned by name in CA legal.. on the Group industries Uzi's you can eliminate the banned features and it can become legal.

The magazines are legal if you dissasemble them before transfering them into state so long as you don't assemble them into funcitonal units.

If you are a CA state resident you can import high cap mags dissasembled as parts to repair your existing mags, or assembled as replacements for magazines you have that are being retired.

But there is no way for a non CA resident to bring them into the state for personel use.

In Connecticut, my home state, the Uzi Carbine, Mini-Carbine, and pistol are all banned by name. Sounds like a no-go for Connecticut too.
