Friends, the height of this unit is listed as 4.9 inches. Does this measurement include the ridged finger wells as well as the lock area? Is there any additional height added from anything like rubber feet or anything else on the base of the unit?
I have a utility compartment in my SUV that is exactly 5 inches deep. I'm considering buying a Gunvault unit to sit in this compartment during a summer road trip. But if I can't close the compartment, that would not be good.
Also, do any of you use the optional cable lock? Does it look up to the job? I realize the unit is designed to be bolted down to something solid, but I would have to make do with a cable lock, since portability would be important (into hotel room, etc.).
Anyhow, I would be ordering online as my local gun shop does not have this item. Don't want to be returning a safe if at all possible!
