thanks!

had the photos on my phone and forgot the maker.

if I’m a size 36 jean waist. Should I just order a 36 waist?
No ... a few years down the road the gunbelt and holster rig will get smaller and your jean size will expand ... I've had to buy two more gun belts since high school ... buy a gunbelt that you can "grow into as you age " make sure to have some extra holes .
I always buy larger than my waist size , a gunbelt is worn over your waist and lower down on your hips , it needs to be larger than your waist size ... talk to El Passo about what size to order ... and allow for the future ...we all get older and most likely wider in the future ... Trust Me !

Thanks Gary! I’m going to give them a call Monday and talk with someone about belt size. I’m 44 now and been floating between jean size 34-36 for the past 15 years. I don’t plan and getting any wider! lol… If I do, I’m going on a diet and start working out. I mean, a sexy cowboy like me need to keep his figure for the ladies!

Sheesh. You require instant gratification?

With El Paso, each holster and rig is made to order. They are not sitting in a warehouse ready to ship. That is why you have your choice of how the holsters hang on the belt, and barrel length.

I do not see an option about barrel length with that particular holster, be sure you order a holster for the proper barrel length of your Colts. I seem to recall they have 7 1/2"barrels?

Also, I strongly suggest NOT getting all those cartridge loops. You would be surprised how heavy a pair of Colts are with 25 loops full of cartridges. If you go with all those loops, you do not have to fill them all.

I learned along time ago how heavy a pair of Colts are when you wear them all day, particularly with a gun belt stuffed full of cartridges, particularly heavy rounds like 45 Colt with 250 grain bullets. Figure each Colt weighs about 2 1/2 pounds, plus maybe another pound of ammo. That's a lot to carry all day long on your belt.
cant wait to have all that lead & iron on my hips!!!

“I’m here to kick-A**, and drink whiskey. And Pilgrim, I’m all out of whiskey.”

That's just it. The "quick draw" game is not historically authentic. It's an invention of Hollywood, particularly of Arvo Ojala and his design of the low-slung "buscadero" holster.

To his credit, John Wayne seldom indulged this fantasy. Note how he carries his gun in "The Shootist."

The OP asked for quick draw, not historically accurate.

12-16wks is not bad. It will probably be less than that.

Another option is Texas Jack's, Cimarron's mercantile. They have the same holster and belt, made by El Paso Saddlery, usually in stock. You can call them and make sure they have them.

I bought this rig from there a few years ago, on the way to a hunt.

I don’t know anything about custom leather work. One step at a time, got the rest of my life to figure what I like

IF you can find a Cowboy Action shoot, go watch. Ask them about their rigs. They will talk your ear off, let you try them on and see how they fit. You will see about every style available, prices from cheap to meteoric.

my local range “Renton Fish & Game” has Cowboy action. I do shoot USPSA there but the Cowboys kinda look intimidating, I know I know I know…Man Up

If you're gonna spend good money for a quality product I would suggest a size or two larger. You're gonna be surprised how easy it is to increase waist sizes when getting a little long in the tooth. I was a 34 till I turned 40. Then like a size larger every year. One you get big it's hard to go down.

You're not gonna need a new belt every time your pants size changes. That's the reason for the "center hole" measurement, so you have room to go in either direction. Case in point, I've been using the same 2.5" gun belt for about 8yrs. I made it around 2014 and have been using it ever since. At that point in time, I was the heaviest I've ever been. I'm now 60lbs lighter. Still using the same belt, on the 2nd to the tightest hole. If my weight loss continues, I 'may' think about a new one next year.

I'll be putting on this belt twhen I go to the woods this afternoon. Pic from 2014.

Don’t take it personal, RO’s are know to mean and strict there. I stop being a member when the RO made a big deal of my Members Badge being in the wrong spot. Now, I just pay $20 when I need to use the range and don’t have to oby by they Charter rules and all that other crap.

Retired Old timers shoot black powder their on Tuesday & Wednesday afternoon when the range is slow. That’s when they don’t care what you do.

Also, I’ll PM you the local gun shop were I been getting my good stuff. They are also stiff and mean there too, until you whip out the cash.

Like I said before, I got a very thick skin and nothing much bothers me except a punch in the nose and messing with my KinFolks. Growing up in the tall Pines of North Carolina taught me, it’s their problem not my.

The Issaquah range had open cans of gas under/in front of the shooting bench. I did not see them until walking back from the targets. I left do to unsafe conditions.

I paid the $20 but the rules were such that it took over an hour to shoot 20 rounds and got YELLED at 40 plus times. No thanks

Nothing like a power mad jerk to ruin a day at the range. I don't go the one outside of Sierra Vista because of the same issues. First time I went it was wrecked by a real jackass, didn't go back for over 15 years, now it's 2 power mad women that really enjoy making someone miserable. I don't need to pay my hard earned cash to put up with being harassed and yelled at.

Lucky you. I gained 60 pounds and outgrew my gun belt to where I could barely fit the tongue into the buckle. No way I could buckle it. I bought an everyday belt when I was heavy. Now I'm 60 pounds lighter. My gun belt fits again but my everyday belt has 6 extra holes and wraps around almost to my back.
