Tonight doesn't look good for the future of RKBA. That being said, get over it. No amount of complaining or belly aching will change the results of the election. This is now the time to join a RKBA organization, local or national and write write write your congressman telling them how important our RKBA is (since so many of them seem to fail to get the message). Why don't we make this thread a list of links to RKBA organizations?

um I do fully plan to join there organizations and have sent my reps letters. That said, I am going to whine, bitch, cry, moan, and drool like Ive been sprayed with Bear mace until the hurt stops, and then I'm going to think of a way to succeed from the union (or just move to the Michigan U.P., thats basically how it is up there anyways!). Once I've wasted enough time to forget why I'm so upset, I'll write some more letters and spend some more money on RKBA groups

I think that the power and influence of these organizations is going to grow leaps and bounds.

The simple truth is, VERY few people can be considered 2nd amendment ACTIVISTS.

But almost every gun owner in the country can be considered a 2nd amendment REACTIVIST.

If you all want to do something useful, you might consider contacting the RNC and politely explaining to them that if they are to avoid this sort of debacle in the future, they should dump the neocons and RINOs and get back to basic conservative values of small government, low taxes, and individual freedom.

There's a lesson in here today, for those of us who care to learn it.

As a libertarian I'm contemplating just joining the GOP and working from the inside to change it back to what it should be.

The only thing that's certain about the next four years is that Obama will be on Pennsylvania Avenue. We can still influence the rest, and our task starts right now.

As for me, I've been procrastinating on joining the NRA for too long. I'm happy to report that as of a few minutes ago, I am an NRA member.

The fight's not over. It's just begun.

Funny - I just sent this to the Democratic party:

Congratulations. I am a lifelong Republican that voted for Sen Obama - my first time ever voting for a Democratic Presidential candidate. Please don't blow it. You won by courting and winning the vote of independents, centrists and moderate Republicans. Pay them back before you start tossing favors to the fringe. Stay away from gun control, stay away from fringe issues and fix the economy please.

Good luck, President elect Obama. I will be praying for you, soon to be my new President and my new commander in chief.

I disagree. Country is closely divided. The national vote only went to Barak by 2%. Gun control was not an issue at all - and that it was, it was only to the extent Democrats could run far far away from Brady et al.

Obama and Pelosi are smart politicians. Dick Durbin is the best vote counter there is. They are VERY well aware of how fragile their majority is, and won't allow gun control to do them in again. Heck, looks like we held off the filibuster proof Senate (and will have an easier time picking up seats in 2010) . . . the time is right to turn the 2nd Amendment into a SUpreme Court litmus test ala Roe v Wade.

Just think... if only 10% of the money that was raised to elect McCain could have been donated to the pro 2A groups then just think of what we could accomplish...

Good God I hate "organizations", and being affiliated with one. I am an independent U.S. citizen, and honestly enjoy the privacy that my country's freedoms afford to me.

    Tonight, I joined the NRA.

    GOD BLESS AMERICA

I will refrain at this time from criticizing those who might have joined the NRA too late, and welcome everyone who now sees the light. if ALL gun owners were NRA members, we would have nothing to worry about. YOU NOW UNDERSTAND, how important this is, and the work won't get done by itself.

If you order from Brownells.com, at the checkout, they ask if you want to donate to the NRA. Give them $5 too.

In previous elections crime control has been a significant issue. It was not in this one as the economy, energy crisis, etc., garnered far more attention. When the economy improves, look for other issues such as crime to come to the surface again. When this occurs, some will equate crime control with gun control.
