Seems we can't make the PDHSC get-together, they're doing preliminary testing for incoming frosh for the new semester at UNC-P that weekend and The Good Doctor has to be on campus. Such is life where employment is concerned...

Keep planning the THR SSI Picnic And Fun Shoot and maybe we can make that one...

Um, when it gets cooler ? I'm been to SSI when it was 98ºF and it wasn't that much fun.

I should be able to make the PDHSC meet on the 11th.

Yeah, SSI at 95-98 degrees = no fun. Blip normally drags me along on his outings (or is it the other way around) and lots of fun is to be had. I'm sure I can make Tilley's place on the 11th now that I have my weekends back.

I wish I could - more than likely I'll be out of town this weekend.

I might, but then again I might not.

Being as I'll not have a copper fiq to my name, it seems a trifle cruel to myself :)

Cashflow problems will likely keep me in Alamance County too. :)

Well folks, it looks as if I'm not going to make it to PDHSC on Saturday. Something has come up that will preclude my attendance. Please don't let that dissuade anyone else from coming and meeting the folks.

This will be a double-post of sorts for those who are in the meetup group, but all NC residents should take note of this:

    NC House Bill 310

You all might want to write your state representative about this. The
bill, which would prevent seizure of firearms during time of emergency,
and make it legal to transport them during the same, has been stuck in
    committee for almost six months.

With the peak of hurricane season rapidly approaching, it's time our reps
    get on the ball:

So, any good buys at the Raleigh show?

We picked up a dual tone CZ-75 (because I'm addicted to CZ's) and a Taurus 605 (357 lightweight small frame revolver) for the wife to summer carry.

Went to SSI on the way home.. CZ was flawless (I've come to expect this) and the Taurus was kind of flaky...:(

The Taurus sometimes took some jiggling to get the cylinder to swing back in (empty or not) and other times the cylinder would rotate freely after swinging it back in. Who would have thought the "problem" gun would be the expensive revolver!

I found a dealer that was selling Unique powder for $14 but that was about the only deal I saw. There were few Colts there and many were way overpriced. I had hoped to find me another but the search continues.
I did spent Sunday morning at SSI shooting the Colt New Agent I am testing. I got there about 0930 and all but 1 pistol range was full. I did not make it to the rifle range this time.

    .

What about this Sat or Sun at SSI.
So far, the forecast is a high of 90 and tollerable humidity.

    This schedule is now pending.
    What say ye ?

Hi rantingredneck. My name is Ed and I am a THR member and a member of the Buckhorn Gun Club. I am new to shooting and have had my Buckmark pistol only about a month, but found the Buckhorn range through a friend and joined up. I would like to add a .357 revolver to my shooting routine sometime soon and am sifting out all the information from the web that I can. That's how I found THR and it has become one of my favorite sites to visit. I can't add much experience to this forum at this point, but THR is full of information for me. Hope to meet you out there sometime.

Cool. PM me sometime and we can arrange a meetup. I'm usually there a couple times a week at least. I've got a few guns you can test drive if you like, though I don't presently own a .357 :(.

I guess it's time to stop lurking around in here...

fletcher, there are no refinish options available in our area (Wake County) to my knowledge. However, there's a good place in Angier. http://www.theshootersroost.com/index.html

Contact Tom Beliveau in Wendell NC (right by Perry's). He is an excellent gunsmith and does beautiful refinishing work.

    New guy

Hey everyone. I'm new to the forum. Been shooting for a few years now. About to get my carry permit along with a few like minded friends. Live out here on the beach, OBX that is. Mostly a handgun shooter. Some rifle, enough to be proficient anyway. Learning Cap and ball revolver. Anyone else in the area?
