I'd love to, but pretty much everyone else at my second job just quit and my wife (who would usually work the shifts with me) is going to be in Atlantic City this weekend :(

So between main job, second job and trying to find some sleep time, I'm not really going to be available, sorry. Oh, and she's taking the car with her.

I'm joining your hookup group though, as I'd love to have been able to go this weekend..... For one thing, someone has to make fun of my Bubba'ed SKS.... After I mangled the stock by accident fitting my Tech-Sights, I just went hog wild :)

We missed ya! Fletcher was at the Wake County Range and I had my family at PDHSC. We spent a couple of hours and hundreds of rounds, mostly 9mm as my wife has a new gun she wanted to get comfortable with.

Met another shooter there, a young fellow of Asian descent who was very good with his firearms. I didn't get the chance to ask his name, so if he's a THR member, hopefully he'll speak up and let me know who he is.

Also, for those who may be interested, I've started a meetup group for the Triangle area. Please see the link in my signature.

Glad to have you. I'm close enough I may be able to swing by and give you a ride. PM me with info if you're interested.

The trip to Wake FETC was pretty good. It was my first time firing an AR-15, and I loved it. Desperately needs to be sighted in, but that's not a problem.

Saw a man there with a 1903 broomhandle Mauser - very nice looking gun.

Also, I'll be at PDHSC sometime this week with my dad (keeping in "shape" for our IPDA class this Friday). If anyone has the opportunity to take the IDPA/defensive pistol class there with David, I highly recommend doing so. This is my second time around.

Can't wait for the 11th :)

Fletcher,

Let me know when you and your dad are going to be at PDHSC and I'll make arrangements to be there.

I didn't know that PDHSC was holding IDPA classes. Is the Dave, David McDonald?

Kirk

P.S. I just found out that Dave, is Dave Bramble. I though it may be David McDonald as he's also very well known in IDPA circles, but shoots in ESP Master. For a minute, I thought my buddy was teaching now.

Will do - he's supposed to be letting me know his work schedule soon.

And yes, David Bramble is the instructor. I took one of his two-day classes a couple years back, and decided to do it again this year and bring dad/fiance/different gun with me. Finished the first two days, this week is a third "follow-up" class for more content.

The classes are essentially made as demand appears, so if 6-8 people want to take it, and he's available, it could happen.

How much for the class do you know. PDHSC is about 10min from me. I used to shoot the Action Pistol matches at Range 1 but they are closing. I plan on getting into IPSC at Sir Walter when the heat breaks. A few refresher classes would do me good.

If you put your questions in an email and send that email to PDHSC@PDHSCdotcom with "IDPA" in the subject, they will forward your email to the IDPA instructor.

I may just have to take this class myself. Never done IDPA, but I've often thought about it.

Hey Hunter, join us on the 11th at the meetup.

Kirk

Nope. The meetup is at Oh'Mulligans in Morrisville. Check the link in the bottom of my signature and you'll find location, directions, etc.

KMKeller - Turns out my dad just wants to wait until Friday (for the class) to shoot again. Perhaps we could hit up the range another time. Organizing some group shoots would be fun, but I've got no clue of anywhere within a reasonable distance that can accomodate a group outdoors.

You folks want to make it a twofer? Hit the range and then head over to the gunshow?

I've followed THR for a year or so and just stumbled upon this thread today.
I work in Raleigh and live on the outskirts.

I'm a member at a non-descript outdoor range near Louisburg.
Pistols/Clays/100-200yd Rifle.

Once the humidity leaves town, I'd like to plan a group event.

Same here for me blipmode, I live on the very farthest northern edge of Raleigh by Wake Forest.... I'm curious where this Louisburg range is, by the time you get out here you're not entirely too far away from L'burg at all....

Excellent! Now we're getting a little momentum! If you guys want, we can run the get together through the meetup group, or if you're not interested in joining, we can just try to organize it through THR. If you want to join, please see the link in my signature.

Your choice.

NCBrit. I can only say it's about 20 minutes North of Rolesville :D
Actually, I'm taking my Dad in Law up there this weekend after he buys his first semi-auto pistol. I'll be in touch later.

KMK. Thanks for the invite. I tend to stray from the internet stuff but I'd love to get a group of us out there. I have about 7 other locals that would be there if schedules allow.
