Rampart Update

The issue with Rampart has been ongoing for years yet the shock and disgust never lessens.
Many of these were violent gang members planted by Blood and Crip sets during the 80's when restrictions were suddenley lowered due to lawsuits. There was no plan in place for proper screening of recruits so human trash got in. The rest of them fell in with rappers and Death Row records, they ended up with alot of money and gang connections. Weak people in the first place.
How the supervisors never knew this was being done or where the vehicles were is beyond me. Most officers are held accountible for their time and miles.
No Police Officer consider these animals human let alone brothers, and no real officers should ever be judged by the actions of criminals with badges.

"Note to self: Don't trust uniforms. Practice headshots".

Very nice and intelligent, filth like this is by far the best way to bridge the gap of "us Vs. them" mentality. It is things like this that put us on edge and help us develop that attitude. When people ask why we take control of someone with a gun we don't know, this statement shouldbe used as a good example.
I don't think you would care for it if I wrote, don't trust gun owners they are all backwoods, redneck, inbreed, tobacco chewing hicks, out to kill without reason, (I don't think that its just an exagerated example).

Hate breeds Hate.

Is this guy a crip or a blood?

When people ask why we take control of someone with a gun we don't know, this statement shouldbe used as a good example.

This is the problem with Law Enforcement Officers - they assume that everyone is a murdering criminal and treat you like one until they grudgingly let you go. On the other hand, I have never seen that attitude from a Peace Officer...... Which one are you?

I don't hate. I mistrust. Big difference. Not my fault the scumbags are doing these things..

In the same way that you cops 'can't take the chance'...We citizens are learning that 'We can't take the chance' either.

Don't read more into my statement than I put there. We're (supposedly) all on the same side.

WADR.:)

To Zrex, My guess is that you assume because he is white and clean cut that he has no gang membership or ties? No all members are minorites with oversize pants. If you wanted someone to blend in he would do just fine.

"disarm and assume they are a criminal"
You are assuming something about me. To date I have encounted close to 200 CCW permit holders in the line of duty. I have disarmed only 2, those were during arrests.
I was simpley trying to point out why some officers are more fearful and that negitive comments about violence do not help.

"disarm and assume they are a criminal" You are assuming something about me.

You are right - I went and zapped that whole line of thought from my post.

I suppose the real trick is to get to a point of mutual trust and discard the "us versus them" mentality.

To Zrex, Thank you for your courtesy. Mutual trust it the goal.

Sendec your comment is just as bad as the first.

I suppose the real trick is to get to a point of mutual trust and discard the "us versus them" mentality.

Now this is reasonable and worthy of response. How do we do this? We got cleancut scumbags killing cops, we got cops abusing citizens, and we got cop impersonators abusing citizens.

The way I see it, cops have a right to play it safe so they can go home at night, reasonable. But us citizens cannot recognize the difference between good cops and bad cops by sight. If we blindly obey the uniform, by the time we realize they're bad, its too late for us.

Maybe I came off a little harshly. No disrespect intended to good officers. In the same way that its better to be safe than sorry for the good cops, its to the point with the good guy impersonators and these incidents happening...it better to be safe than sorry for us citizens. Where do we go from here if we are to improve trust and relations?

Exactly the point.

This board has done more to sour me on civilians than any of the street contacts I've made.

One would think that LEO's would be the first to condemn criminal activity within their ranks-especially under color of authority. Alas, 'tis not so. :(

Subsitute the word cops for civilians in sendec's post and you have my feelings also.

I dont want to be at odds with police. What do we do wear blue armbands? Scumbags'd start wearing them too.

One of the reasons I come off with an us vs them attitude is the type of higher than thou attitude that is displayed by posting leo's, leaving the impression that I have more to worry about with the cops than with BG's. Not good form and does nothing but hurt any chance of coming close to mutual trust. Mistakes are made on both sides, responsibility is on both sides.

If you leo's want (me) citizens to step up above the us vs them mentality, maybe you guys could make an effort to step down off your high horse.

I think some people falsely assume the rampart scandal was an isolated incident. Notice the areas of law enforcement where we find the most corruption and blatent misconduct on the part of officers, guns, drugs, and other victimless crimes. Stricken the laws from the books and you'd have a lot less us vs. them mentality, and a lot fewer cops and prison guards... which of course their unions would never stand for. So looks like the drug war and rampart scandals are here to stay.

OK I just read one of Shields posts from another thread that indicated that he's not on a high horse at all...just frustrated with the state of relations and would like to see them improved...

I feel your frustration sir, as I'm on the opposite end of the spectrum and desire the same thing.

I come off pretty cynical at times. I've had my taste of bad cops. I've got on here and said & asked things, and always get chopped off below the knees by higher than thou cops (not all of them) but enough to reinforce the negative impressions I have. Didn't help at all.

I realize I just did the same thing with my original post. My apologies. It's been quite awhile since I heard anything encouraging from a cop. You seem to be struck from a different mould than most cops here. I will endeavor to follow your encouraging lead and keep my cynical mouth shut in the interest of improved relations...
 :D

It always the other guy, isnt it? If only the cops did this, or that, or thought like me, or only enforced the laws I like, or cut me a break, or dont cut the other guy a break and on and on.......

I've arrested cops for felonies and have seen them go to prison. I daresay there is little if anything the people on this board could teach me about dirty cops. Sounds uppity? Damn straight, deal with it.

You must be one of the morons that Shields alluded to.;)

If you had any comprehension, you'dve seen I was trying to be nice, and high road a little. Why can't you try n' be a little more professional?

Riddle!!:

What happens when you give sendec viagra?

He gets taller.:D
