Rcbs 10-10 scale spring

I bought a gently used rcbs 10-10 scale USA mfg and on inspection the long thin flat spring und the scale base had surface rust.

I removed it and placed it in evapo rust solution, upon removal of the spring from the solution the lack of rust reveals a million holes caused by rust erosion.

Where can I find a replacement spring?

Is this the guy that tunes scales?

I saw some references but no name was given when I Google parts for 10-10 scale

I am confused, please bear with me. The RCBS 10-10 is actually a balance, even though everyone calls it a scale (physics pet peeve).

Why does the RCBS 10-10 have a spring on it?

The mass on the left side is equal to the mass on the right side when the two balance. There should be no spring involved. Can someone explain why there is a spring under the base of the 10-10? Just curious?

Don't think it is really a "spring" per say....but a soft landing device for the left balance arm... saying that... it does look kinda like a leaf spring...
