Traded a vz52 for a store credit, and then picked up a Real Avid Precision Bench Vise. It moves about any way you want to move it. Will mount it tomorrow. Going to use it to better hold my firearms for repair and cleaning. And other household projects. Very sturdy. Have to see how it works. What do you use? Anyone have one of these?

Looks very nice. Shows some photos of it installed. What are you going to install on the vise 'jaws' to prevent marring?

It comes with covers that go over the jaws to prevent damage. I will install it in a day or so. I have to go after work to pick up my Step-mother (ashes) and bring her to my Dad's so I won't be home until later. I will update.

I have it about all mounted. Will have some pictures later. I need to reinforce the bottom to make things a little stronger for the back screw. The front is mounted above a 2x4. I plan on doubling this space. It is fairly robust, I was playing around with its movement and you can move items just about anywhere. I guess with experience I will learn more about it and how I can use it. My use case being maintenance, cleaning, repair, and scope mounting.

That is a good looking vise. I have a versa-vise with factory soft jaws that allows you to clamp different shaped things. I drilled and tapped holes in my HD steel work table so I can remove the base and get it out of my way except when needed.. It only takes a couple of minutes to set up or remove.

I used it this weekend to fix a scope that was mounted on a friends 700. The adjustment to level came in handy. Made short work of getting the scope level. Bore sighting got first shot right on target.
