“President Barack Obama has announced a series of executive actions on gun control. He says he wants to end gun violence running rampant in the United States. But is it a fair question to ask? Is the President all talk on this issue and do the actions by his administration speak louder than his words?.

What you need to know is that while the president seems to be creating new laws with executive orders, which is unconstitutional, he has a lot of ability to enforce existing laws through the justice department. The fact that every year for the past three years that has happened less frequently should be alarming to anyone who believes that we need more gun control.”

If you take a minute to study Executive Orders by U.S. Presidents, you'll see that Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Madison and pretty much every President after them has issued them. I doubt the writers of the Constitution would do something outside of the scope they dictated for the country.

The bottom line appears that they are just going to more strongly enforce the laws already in place.

Nope.

The legal reality is that there are limits to what a President can do with Executive Orders. An Executive Order is not a law or a regulation, nor may it change law or regulation. An Executive Order is a statement of policy and instruction from the President, as the senior manager of the Executive Branch, to the organizational units that report to him. It must be pursuant to an underlying statute or regulation and be consistent with the underlying statute or regulation, and an Executive Order must be constitutional. Executive Orders are subject to challenge in court.

If you look closely at Obama's latest round of actions on guns, you'll see that there's hardly anything there of substance. Mostly, it's a repackaging of existing law (regarding the definition of "being in the business," etc.). The only thing that I see that's a significant change is the removal of the CLEO signoff requirement for NFA transfers -- which is actually pro-gun. What Obama is really doing is elevating the issue in the media, as a means of firing up the Democratic base for the upcoming election. This could prove to be a double-edged sword, since a push on guns could alienate more people than it excites.

I see the airwaves full of fake polls showing that Americans broadly support this universal background check.

These fake poll results they are flooding their ads with are pure propaganda. To convince the legislators that "the tide of public opinion has turned".
But it hasn't.
And we know it. Almost every gun owner is AGAINST registration, especially once they know that it inevitably leads to confiscation.

To counter this strategy, 2 options come to mind:

1. Talk to people we know who are not gun owners and explain to them what the 2A means in terms of protection against tyranny, and why registration is the first step that a tyrant uses.

2. Call our representatives (congressman and senators) to convince them that ANY vote in this direction will lead to them being primaried or defeated.

This was how we defeated the UBC tide after Sand Hook, and this is how we will defeat it now. We need to educate and pick up the phone and make a couple of calls .
On a more encouraging note, even the die hard liberals are mistrustful of the press now, so any polls are met with suspicion.
:)

Everything obama has said has been a lie so why should we expect anything different. I fear more what he hasn't said because that is what he is more likely to really do. There is more coming you can bet on it.
