Really thinking of getting an integral .22 and a 40mm launcher before 41T

I'm normally not price shy but a recent blown engine, clutch job, 4 dental crowns, a down stock market, and a poor bonus make this an otherwise very bad time to be buying guns. I'll have no issues digging out but for now in the pre-41T period, price is an issue.

I was thinking of the Thompson Machine Operative B. It is so much quieter than the 10/22 models due to the wider and longer barrel. I love Savage AccuTriggers and it may be worth putting up with the horrible Savage magazines. In an ideal world, I'd do the same size integral barrel on a 10/22 toggle bolt "biathlon" receiver.

For the 40mm, I am thinking of an LMT rail mount and then just buying a rifle frame and sights (and chalk and flare rounds) later on when I'm out of debt. Is there a range advantage to the full length barrel vs. the tactical?

I'll probably also delay a really nice rimfire scope for the integral until later as well.

I'd like your thoughts on both of these and what would be a good scope for the integral.

I don't need more cans in general and I have more SBSs and SBRs that I can shoot. I'm happy with my one SMG (and the plethora of uppers available for it). I see a belt-fed machine gun in my future but not this year (or this President) and who knows if 41T will be around next near. I've wanted an integral .22 for a couple years now and I think I need a DD to round out my collection.

If you're just launching chalk and flares, why go through the hassle of NFA and just get a 37mm launcher?

Later on, if you so choose, you can form 1 it as a destructive device and use lethal, non explosive, ammunition like buckshot or flechette rounds.

Just my $.02, as someone who has considered the same thing.

There's an Operative B hanging on the wall of a local gun shop with a $799 price tag. I have given it some thought...

What's a good price for one?

I just bought a used dealer demo T.M. Operative B with "less than 50 rounds through it" om my lunch break. The baffle looks like less than 200. Funny thing is I shot a couple mags and watched others do the same at an open house Spring 2015 and I'm pretty sure it is the same gun.

Whatever the exact count I got a steel and they got more room in their safe for black rifles. Damn that store was busy today!

So does anyone make a better mag release for the Savage Mk II?
Any after market magazines?

Also what is a good choice for a rimfire scope? When I was at the openhouse they had an antique looking scope that had a wider field of view than tall (like a 4:3 aspect ratio or slightly larger).

Mike

PS. It just occurred to me to check my brokerage accounts today for dividends :) 40mm launcher is not far off.

Form 4 in the mail for the integral! :D:D:D The shop also has open houses in the desert with conjugal visits with your NFA items while pending transfer.

I can't wait to get my hands on the operative B. Just called today and after some confusion about the rifle serial number vs. the integral silencer serial number, I found out I went pending 2/16. With an median of 135 days, I'm looking at early July most likely. It's not the post-Dorner 13 months but not good either. 41T can only add time.

The dealer who quoted me the 40mm has been unable to actually obtain one for months. I've pretty much changes my mind on that toy. Other priorities . . .

Dang, I wish my shops did that!

The Operative is nice; here's what I'd like to get:

Is that a 2 stamp gun or is the silencer fixed. There are integrals in the same format like this baby which would be shorter and quieter with the same stock:

I chose the Operative B because nothing is quieter. It is also very "quiet" in the looks department too.

It looks like I'm about two weeks out for my Integral (check cashed 2/16)--add a week for postage and my dealer to process/call. I'm starting to see a mass of 2/2-2/5 and an odd 2/8 showing up approved on NFA Tracker.

If the integral is shorter than that one (<16") it's going to be a two stamp gun as well.

A 5.5" barrel and a 5" suppressor even if permanently attached or integral in design will need an SBR and silencer stamp, if you have a stock.

I have both but having a can that you can move from host to host is nice, especially if your going to have two stamps anyway. If I did an integral I would have the OAL of the barrel come out at 16"+.

So I got a letter from the ATF today saying the dealer needed to submit a correction for the integral :(

Just picket it up. Beautiful gun. Super quiet both in sound and appeance.

Did my first 4473 as a Hispanic. Didn't cause a delay. Isn't ancestry.com great? :) I've only known for 2 months my "French" mother was Spanish on both sides. Explains the family paella and flan recipes :) I still need to let HR at large company know. :D
