This fixed sight ROA has a square notch at the rear of the flat sight groove.
What shape is the rear notch on some the other C&B revolver models that have a top strap and a fixed rear sight or groove like the 1858 Remington, Rogers & Spencer or other?
    Any difference between the manufacturers?
Do they simply have a round bottom groove in the frame or is it square/flat or Vee shaped like the Colt hammer sight?
What about on most cowboy cartridge revolvers, is it round, square or Vee?

My Remmy is a narrow V. Accurate when it comes to shooting, but I may eventually widen it out as under certain light conditions the front sight can be tough to pick up quickly.

On Colt style C&B revolvers I have seen some of the hammer notches were square cut and some were vee shaped. Of the two, I prefer the square notch.

The Starr Single Action has no rear sight in the frame or in the hammer.

You must remember that the Ruger is a modern gun and the sights are a modern design.

I watched a Youtube video of the Pietta 1873 Colt SAA clone that has a fixed square notch that looks very much like the Ruger Old Army's.
