Reasons for Carry Permit

Here in Alabama you just hand them your drivers license (they do a computer lookup to make sure non-felon) then $20 and sit & smile for your photo. About 20 min's later your outta there with your permit. No tests, no class to take, no reason's to give, Heck, you don't even have to own a gun to get one as you don't have to list what you have. My first permit - I got it about a week before I got my first gun.
Only Vermont beats Alabama in this.

Please don't take this the wrong way in the least. Back at the house after a coupla hectic days & having a bit of an adult celebratory beverage.

I think we all need to keep an eye on the ball regards some thing "2nd Amend."

Many (I've been there too) are "high-fiving" that a CCW can even be had. Congratulary opines given on how best to apply, etc.

All well 'n good.

But consider the condition we've reached such a state of affairs.

Requiring a permit to exercise a right, jump a hoop, fill in the blank properly .... (sigh)

Won't argue that the ability is better than not.

BTW, a while back, "all lawful purposes" flew even in Mass ....

Being from Wisconsin, there is no such thing as a CC permit.

HOWEVER, we may have one this time next year. The worm has FINALLY turned and both the State Senate and the Assembly are Repubican.

Governor is a lunatic (guns are for him, his personal police force, and the coppers ONLY) and will veto--but it's likely that he will be over-ridden.

Well - in my part of PA (Westmoreland County), a pic isn't required either - nor a test, class, fingerprints, etc. Although there is an application to fill out, which (at least in this county) requires 2 character references. Ours is good for 5 years, & cost $17 when I had mine renewed.

Fairly painless proceedure, although not quite as good as Vermont!

Shall issue state, so I didn't need to give a reason.

But my personal reasons are I'm entitled to it, I'd rather have it and not need it than otherwise, it makes buying guns much easier, and it supposedly gets more respect from LEOs should I have to ID myself.
