Recall on new Glock 27 gen 4

Hey everyone think I am going to go with the Glock 27 gen 4 for a carry however I heard a few of the new gen 4's were recalled for having some problems. I was wonder if anyone knew if they worked out the kinks and it's good to go. No rush planning to wait for a month or so anyways
 
No idea on the recall. However, I've run a G27 since, around, 2001 with no worries. It pains me to say it, but that plastic-fantastic little zipper runs like a top.
 
I have a gen 4 g27, and haven't had any issues after roughly 1000 rounds. I thought the gen 4 recall only affected the new g17/22 and g19/23 as they have the new dual recoil springs. I might be incorrect, but i think glock was replacing the springs free of charge if you call in.
 
Yea when I was looking to pick up the G23 they told me they had a recall I thought maybe all the new gen4 would have a similar problem. Well thanks and looks like I will be looking at that. Do you use it for carry? What holster do you use? Although I am looking to carry with ab appendix carry because I am a skinny guy
 
Father owns a Gen 4 G22.
No problems with it so far but what you are talking about is the recoil spring issue they had. It applies to the .40 cal models and the 9mm models. Somehow, To what I understand anyways is that some of the guns that Glock made had the wrong recoil spring in it.

They all have the double-recoil spring in them. If yours has the wrong one in it, You will get jams often and other similar like issues.
 
The Gen 4 recall had to do with the 9mm G19s and G17s primarily. The double-recoil spring was too strong to reliably cycle in some guns.

I don't believe the Gen 4 .40 S&Ws ever had many problems.


However, newly produced Gen 4s should not have any problems whatsoever and are unaffected by the recall as it only covered Gen 4 guns sold prior to July of 2011

Had no problems with Gen4 G22, but Glock offered (at no charge) to change the recoil spring to one they said would be more reliable, so I did it.

Was great before, is great now.
 
I just read tis in an email from Glock Talk, where people post their experiences with various firearms, I believe it was a 27, in this post, have to take another look.
 
I was looking into the Gen 4s (and I bought one). They changed a few parts in various models but none of them were actually an official recall. They will replace older parts with newer parts to solve some problems they had. They changed recoil spring assemblies/ejector/extractor...some of them more than once and a couple of other things too. The subcompacts have always had that type of recoil spring in them.
 
Glock doesn't recall per se, they do gratis safety and performance upgrades. Give them a call and they can tell you if any upgrades are necessary based on your S/N. They can also walk you through determining if upgrades have already been done.

No idea about shipping since the place is two hours West of me on I-20; I just drive over.

My 27 has been flawless through something over 1,000 rounds.
 
Ok thanks that's a great idea. Also any suggestion on appendix carry holsters?
 
Just sent my G26 back to the factory so they could install a new ejector system. Have fired less than 100 rounds through it. Shot last Saturday and the spent casings would eject straight up about a foot from the weapon or back at me. Jamed twice.
Ejector stamped with number 336 was the culprit Glock having some problems with Gen4 guns also. Unfortunatley, I had to wait seven months to take delivery and now this!
Once repaired it's bye-bye Glock, hello Kahr......

Now the new ejectors/extractors are problematic for a few people. I'm not one of them. Then again, I shoot mostly dynamically with my glocks so I can't tell you if I'm getting dinged with brass. Even if I do, it has never bothered me to get hit with the occasional piece of brass.

I have a gen4 26, 19 and 34. None of those gen4's have given me a problem. I received an RSA replacement for the 19, but at over 5K rounds through it, I needed to replace it anyway.
 
As far as I know, there was never a recall. Yes, Glock changed the ejector and the springs on some models, but many people are using the original stuff just fine. If you send it in they'll swap those out for you for free. I sent back a gen 4 19 and gen 4 26 and they took care of both of them. The main issues were with the 9mms. I never had a prob with the 26 but the 19 would fire empty brass at my head and it wouldnt cycle well with light ammo. Since it got the new parts, it is 100% over about 1000 rounds.

If you do have a glock and you're having a problem, give them a call. Their CS is great.

Once it's repaired and working reliably, why get rid of it?
