Recent Production Taurus 66 experience?

Good choice! I got a blue 4" one in 1988 that served as my HD gun for ten years until it was stolen in a burglary. It was an excellent revolver. I replaced it with a 689 (vent rib) stainless steel model that was made in 1990. It's another excellent revolver and also serves as my main HD gun (even though I own many "fancier" ones). I got them for $200 apiece barely used (the first was LNIB).

Recently I found a 6" stainless Model 66 for a good price. Its trigger is divine. It's old enough that the Taurus website can't identify it. As soon as my health improves a bit I will give it a good workout at the range.

Sorry, I don't have any new ones, but just thought I'd add to the conversation. I am not a Taurus fanboy, but I have had good experience with their Model 66 and Model 85 variations, and their copy of the Beretta 92.

It'd be a safe bet that an 85 will join the ranks as well someday soon, as happy as i am with my 66 in the short time ive had it. it'd honestly been so long since i shot a centerfire revolver, i'd forgotten just how good one can feel in the hands. Out of nearly 30 firearms, aside from the 66, i only own one other revolver of any kind, a Colt Agent .38 that too was only recently acquired.

I think you will love the Taurus 66,I like mind a lot I have only put a hundreds rounds through it so far.I have had it for about seven months.
