How much is the recoil on a .375 H&H Magnum with BOSS from Browning? (as compared to say a .223 Remington rd) and the recoil on a .30-06 (with BOSS).

alot more not even comparable to the 223. if you didnt brake the 30-06 and braked the 375. you would still notice a good bit more recoil

I will agree with gentleman987.
.223 isn't in the same ballpark as 30-06 un braked or .375 h&h braked. .223 from a bolt gun vs. a braked 30-06 would be kinda close. I've shot a braked 30-06, it feels like shooting a .243 with varmint rounds (as in not much).
Shooting a .375 h&h unbraked really isn't that bad. Would I really want to shoot more than 6 or 8 to sight one in off the bench? Not really, but it's definitely doable. Off hand it feels about like a 30-06 from the bench.
Brake on a 30-06? No way, not unless you're really recoil sensitive. With a .375 H&H? Maybe, but I personally would save the money for something else.

I havent tried any 375`s with brakes on. But I got two rifles in that caliber. One CZ and one Remington. The CZ is a long heavy bastard. The original stock is still on, and that piece of wood got a strange curve in my opinion. Its bend like a banana. And that makes the recoil bad at heavy loads. The remington is short and very light. Synt stock. The stock is straight, and that makes the difference. With the same loads the Rem seems to have half the recoil.
What I have tried with and without brake is a 300 Weatherby mag. And I must say that it made a big difference. Dont remember the make of the brake, but it worked.

Not on that chart, but I think a .12 gauge shooting a 1oz slug or a 3 1/2" shooting goose loads is around 60-70ft/lbs.
If you don't have a 12 gauge, one should be easy enough to find and borrow to try a few slugs through if your really curious.
