I use a Benjamin 342 rebuilt pump for plinking, but wanted something that didn't require pumping. This will be for plinking and I would prefer a .22, don't want or need a scope, just nice irons. Was looking at some of the ruger offerings as they have decent reviews, but I'm not an airgun guy so I figured I'd ask here.

I have one, and it's a really nice gun. It does have the holes for the rear sights, and if you take off the muzzle weight it's probably easy enough to mount the front.

I'm actually going to let mine go I think, it's really nice, but I just don't shoot Springer's well enough for it to get more use than my custom QB.

20200416_161025 (1).jpg The XS25 has open sights. The XS25SFB is the one in the link I own both. They are equipped with red dots. They are the same except for the stock and sights. You could ask mike if the XS25 is available.

You need to shoot your Springer's alot to become familiar with each. They are like a woman no two are the same.

Very true, and Im spoiled with the easy to shoot QB. The b25s smooth, and accurate, and as long as i shoot from the same position, i can deliver excellent accuracy. I just cant duplicate that from different positions.....Tho perhaps i owe the gun another few thousand rounds, im only about 1500 in at this point.

You will really like the XS25SFB. If you get the tuned one it will have a buttery smooth shot cycle. The non tuned will be very good after its broke in. Either way it will be a very sweet accurate gun. Mike will not sell you a junker he tests every rifle he sells. Mine shoots better than my German 34

Here's a video I made on the rifle

I did opt for the normal $40 tune. Does the rifle include any sort of Weaver rail or way to mount a scope out of the box? What would I need to purchase in addition to scope rings to mount a scope? .

There is a 11mm dovetail cut into the cylinder. And a scope stop. When you order your optics make sure the rings are made to fit 11mm.

Blue loctite the screws to keep your scope from walking.

20200819_190432.jpg I like using a stop behind my optics. Gamo makes them and Hatsan has them. If you were to get one from Hatsan you need to email them and ask for a Magnum scope stop.

Look behind the SeeAll sight in the picture and you can see how the stop is mounted. download.jpeg 20200819_185217.jpg

Got the rifle and scope In the mail yesterday. Its fun as hell, but I need a bit of practice, keep throwing shots at 15 yards. This will be great for basic marksmanship practice in these times of strife. I'm surprised by the amount of recoil it has, but that is a positive, makes it more fun to shoot.

The trigger is a bit mushy but serviceable, and the rifle is heavier than my hunting bolt guns, front heavy also, feels more like a firearm than my actual firearms. The break barrel action is smooth and easy to cock, much more fun than a pump gun.
The scope I bought ( winchester/daisy chinko fixed power) is surprisingly decent, clear glass, the reticle is a bit thick and the eye relief is about 2 inches. The short eye relief combined with the long length of pull is a bit odd to use. But for 35 bucks I can't complain. Time will tell if it dies.
The rifle appears to come with a scope stop that will block the rings from shifting back, but it appears much simpler than the others I looked at, not sure if this will matter.
I don't quite understand why the 11mm rail is an airgun standard, seems primitive

Try using a hold like this. Don't grip the rifle tightly but cradle it light. Light grip, lay in palm of your hand. Gental squeeze of the trigger to its break then pull. Don't move until the pellet leaves the barrel. In a break barrel rifle it takes a millisecond for everything to happen. Unlike a PB'S its instant.
The rifle will do the work.

I have thought about doing a video on Springer shooting holds I think I will. 20200823_143138~2.jpg

It will take a 100 or so pellets to get things working best, mine really likes these pellets. Yours may be different each Springer is.

Likes the heavier ones just a bit better.

Ordered 1000 of those cheap 14 gr daisy pellets with the scope, but have some h&n silver points at 17 gr and a few heavier ones from sample packs and such.

The brown box crossman premiers are often pretty accurate.
Ive only shot jsb exacts, and AA Fields thru my b25 so far, tho I actually have some daisy pointeds, and the crossman premier hollow points.
