My father in law has some vintage family rifles I'd love to get fixed up for him. Can someone recommend a reliable resource here on the other side of the water? If not, the greater Seattle area will do.

Thanks,
Peter

When you say "fixed up" ...not sure what you mean.../ ....but often on utilitarian weapons that have been in the family a long time, its expensive, and not worth it from a value standpoint to do much to them.

I don't know of a good gunsmith in the Kitsap country area...but if you're looking for stock refinishing - or maybe fixing a cracked stock ( you might consult a furniture refinisher - or a hobby woodworker)...see if they'll help you out...at a semi-reasonable cost.

If you need parts replaced...get the model number, etc...and go to Brownells online to get what you need....or if its a really old weapon, maybe some specialty shops on the internet. ( maybe the gun show in Puyallup )...they have a lot of parts, if its a common rifle.

If he wants something re-blued...in my opinion he's better off leaving it alone....but there is an operation in Sumner - and they have a table at the Puyallup gunshows as well ...and they do a number of high tech coatings / refinishing on guns ...but its not cheap. I don't recall the name of the company right now ...but its about $ 300 - 500 to refinish a handgun...depending on what you want done.
