Ok, so does anyone have a suggestion for a budget end, decent quality, red dot reflex sight? I would be putting it on my Bushmaster Carbon 15. I have a red dot scope on it right now, and I do not like at all. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks in advance.

I have what came with the rifle. It holds zero well, and I would keep it except I can't use it in the dark, which is the whole idea of owning it. In the dark, even on the lowest setting, the red light fill up the whole scope so I can't see a thing through it. The target is entirely obscured by the light ambiance on the lens.

I know you said budget but "buy once cry once" and get an Aimpoint. you will not be disappointed

Fixed that for ya.

Seriously, OP, I have lots of experience with optics. You get what you for... for the most part. In my opinion, a Primary Arms red dot would be a great choice for you. When you get more get more money, get an Aimpoint.

i have the primary arms micro. i bought it just to test and see if i actually prefer a RDS over a 1-4x scope. the primary arms has held up very well even after being dropped and smacked around a bit. it's totally useable in low/no light. it likely would suit you just fine. if you decide you like the concept, you can move up to an aimpoint.

I'll also echo what others have said about the Primary Arms sights. You get a lot of bang for the buck from them. I'll also add that if your budget will support it, the Lucid HD7 and Vortex Strike Fire are good mid-range RDS' for the money.

PSA has the aimpoint PRO in a package deal with some PSA aluminum flip up sights for $409 w/ free shipping. pretty much getting the BUIS for free.

they also have a pretty good package deal on a vortex strike-fire and a magpul rear flip up. free shipping on any order over $50 right now.

I have the Vortex Strikefire and it works well for a 125$ optic. Red/Green dot with enough brightness levels. Battery life is good and it shuts itself off if you forget.

I like my Strikefire as well. It has proven itself to be a solid and dependable optic. I have the red only dot and have no issues with washout or dot brightness.

Thanks very much for all the suggestions. I will take this information and use it well.

Gotta agree 100% with this post. I actually bought my Aimpoint PRO from Primary Arms!

But if I were looking for something less expensive, I'd go with their house red dot.

BTW, their magnifiers also ROCK!
