Recommendations on Small Game Knife

I have an old SS Buck like the one Doug S posted. I carried it as a Boy Scout. I managed to really mess up the angle on it. Give a child a cheap stone and that is what happens. I need to take that somewhere and let a pro restore the edge. But seeing those pictures makes be feel good. I still like the 2 blade set up of the Case Trapper for deer, but that buck knife makes me want to whittle something. :)

brainwave,

Send it back to Buck, and they will fix it up like new...quite possibly free of charge. Great company.

I generally agree gun brand knives leave a lot to be desired. But I have had excellent service from this Browning. Small enough for small game, great on large game.

Used it on many deer, each blade has a specific function. Use the saw to cut the pelvis bone to open up for cooling, the blunt tip for opening the chest, and the pointed blade for removing the vent.

Not bad looking either.

I'm with McGunner on this one. Its not rocket science, and any decent brand name knife should get the job done just fine. FWIW, I usually carry a Buck folding hunter, and use it for everything from grouse to mule deer. Never felt like more or less knife would do the job any better, and have also used a cheap folding Gerber to clean more than one deer over the years...
