The new American Rifleman has a section on nominating NRA board members. They certainly don’t make it easy to organize or submit a petition, but it is relatively simple to recommend someone to the nominating committee. I wonder if we could work together to identify and nominate some possible members that might help to put them back on course? I’m toying with the idea of nominating myself but I’m a nobody. Are there any ‘somebodies’ we might be able to recruit?

They do not have to consider a recommendation, and I doubt they want only their handpicked candidates. Why would that committee operate differently the the organization as a whole? When core of a tree is rotten the limbs are soon to follow.

A petition would have to be formally rejected. They don’t make it easy to nominate via petition, but it’s not impossible.

If we could come up with some good people, we could try to do it for the next election, I don't see how we could do it for the current one.

In 2017 NRA members voted in a bylaw change that increased the number of signatures required on a petition for a board candidate from 250 to .5 percent of members voting in the last election for board members. Voting members failed to heed warnings not to vote for bylaw changes.

"If this is passed, the Board can assured the nominating committee, made up of Board members, will have complete control of who can run for the Board from now on. The limp-wristed celebrities, hangers-on, and 2A do-nothings that fill so so soooo many seats on the Board will be safe from the NRA membership attempting to replace them with new directors who will advocate for a full understanding of the RKBA.

Remember, this is the same BoD that defended Joaquin Jackson until his death. What could go wrong if we just let them become a closed club who hand-selects their own successors?"
