I recently bought a new 1911 Commander, and today I saw a local Captain from the Indian River Sherriffs office with a 1911 with a set of VZ Blk and Green, similar to a set I had on an EMP, and a really small Red Dot, that looked really nice.
We started talking and my wife was shopping in Sams, and pulled me away before I could find out who did the work. He told me it was his personel gun, and thanked me for noticing, "disecting " it. So I started thinking about putting a dot on mine, his was so small I never imagined it would look so good. They must make a special rmr or dot, for 1911's. as it didn't stick out from any angle which surprised me. I can see it on a Glock, but this one looked like it was made for his gun, any ideas or I have to stake out Sams till he comes back in.

Any number of smiths, some even in Florida. :) Ben Jones' Gun Craft is in Ruskin, Brandan Bunker's Bunker Custom is in Ellenton, Glades Gunworks is in Naples. I'm sure there are more. Just be sure that you communicate clearly exactly what you want as there are numerous different red dots and as many, if not more, ways to mount them. There are even slides being marketed by an operation in Iowa specifically for direct mounting red dots.

That Captain was on TV "news 25" here in FL., Indian River, advising on the hurricane He was wearing his 1911, LOL . Good luck to all those about to be hit by this monster
