Red dot on a .308

The only 308 I have a red dot on is a 1919, I expect a lot more out of my others and red dots don't deliver. The best I have ever done with a red dot was with my aimpoint comp 3, 1.5" at 100 yards. Impressive given that the dot covers more of the target than that but with proper optics that same rifle wil shoot groups half that size.

If you want the best of both worlds get a 1-4 nightforce and turn on/off the illumation whenever you want to.

Why is it a waste on a bolt gun and not an AR10? I don't disagree with your reasoning on why you would choose a scope over the red dot, but i don't understand why a red dot is good for one and not the other
