Red Dot Scope on 22 LR?

I just installed my first Tasco Red Dot scope on my new Marlin 60. It seems really cool and I can't wait to go sight it in. I disassembled and cleaned the gun today in anticipation of getting out to shoot, but the weather is crumby today. So, I guess it'll have to wait a day or two. Do any of you use red dot scopes on your 22? How do you like it? How hard are they to dial in?

they are very easy to dial in, in fact i use them on my AK and it's a lot easier to aim.

i use a 4moa leopold/gilmore on my 10-22 for plate shoots.
really fast acquisition!!
for distance & accuracy cant beat a eotec as long as you dont mind the weight.

I've got a couple 10/22s w/red dots. They are very fun and fast shooting. I like them for pin shoots. I've never tried them for hunting but others that have like them.

Work great for .22 plinkers......dot is too large for long range precision use.

You wont get moa out of them ...but thats not the nature of the beast,there good for what they are designed ....fast target acquisition not for tack holeing at 50 - 100 yds,good fun though on running varmints.

Not a 22 but I use a 2x 3moa red dot on my 10/17 HM2 for small game hunting. I don't think a scope would be any better. Cover it's head and pull.

I used a $30 Tasco on my S&W .22A pistol and shot really nice 2" groups at 75' i sold that to fund this:







And yes its a .22lr
Mine took a bit more time to sight in due to the slightly canted mount. But its my main sight at 0' too 50' and i use the scope 50'-???
I much prefer them over iron sights and don't forget to use some loctite on the mounting screws so it stays in place.

Nice rifle Das! I'll remember the locktite. That little rail on top of my 60 is kind a sketchy. I hope the red dot hangs on ok. I tightened it perty good.

Thanks, Was alot of fun hanging stuff off of it until the accessories cost more than the rifle. But its a total blast and blast stuff with rapid fire with the laser, Hit bulls all day at 50' with the red dot and then when spring comes around see how far i can hit bulls with the 3-9x40 Nikon scope.
But the Red dot is the most veristile and id pick it as my only sight if i could only have 1.

easy to dial in; just remember, use it heads up, not down, and both eyes open...

You can get good accuracy from them just remember you are working with zero magnification usually. If you sight it in to have the POI just above the dot then its no different than iron sights. Just faster and easier.
I use one on my .357 carbine. Out to the ranges the rifle is good for, the dot is just about right.
