I am trying to figure out how to mount a red dot sight on my stock mk II 22/45. Done a bit of googling, and it looks like I just need to have it drilled and tapped to put a mount on top - how much does that generally cost, and is there an alternative mount that replaces the rear sight instead? Thanks in advance.

Hi,

B-Square makes a no drill and tap mount that I've really liked on my MkII Target Model. It does not scratch the gun either and you can even see your iron sights just under the mount if it becomes necessary.

My internet provider recently changed over our photo account locations and I lost all the photos I'd uploaded to the web. I'll try to find the photos in my file tomorrow and upload them again of my MkII with a Bushnell Holosight riding atop the B-Square mount.

Highly recommended and it never lost its zero or came loose in over six years running.

I've got the B-Square mount on my MkI, but IMHO it sits a bit high, although it does work very well.

All the adjustable MkII guns should be drilled and tapped for a scope base. If yours is a fixed sight gun, give Ruger a call and see what they charge to drill and tap it and send you their mount.
