Redhawk build date

The serial number on my Redhawk is 501-97979. Is there a way to tell when it was built, short of calling Ruger?

Ruger at least used to have a "made on date" section on their website

Looks like a 1987 model. It still looks pretty good, especially since I got and cleaned it up. It looked pretty bad, but I took it apart, cleaned and lubed it, and put it back together with a new set of Uncle Mike grips. My dad said I might as well be using a bean flip. I went back to the barn after I killed my deer with it on opening morning (last year) and told him he needed to go to Wal-Mart and get me a bean flip. He just grinned.
