I purchased a Ruger Redhawk in .44 mag the other day. I love the gun but the rosewood grips aren't as practical as they are pretty.

Today, I bought a set of Pachmayr Decelerator Grips and will be returning/exchanging them tomorrow. They are garbage IMHO. The fit is horrible and sloppy. They have a gap at the seam in front that doesn't fit properly at all. Needless to say I am unimpressed.

Anyway, I still think a set of rubber grips would be nice. I am leaning toward one of the versions offered by Hogue. I was mainly curious about two things and would like some assistance from you guys.

First, which type of Hogue rubber grips do you prefer the Bantam (like those that come on the 444 and 445 models) or the Monogrip that extends past the grip frame?

Second, does anyone know if they offer a version of the Monogrip like they make for the SRH that covers the backstrap?

Thank you.

The current ruger soft rubber grips are made by Hogue for them. All i have talked to like them as a grip that offers good control.

Got a Redhawk years ago, tried the Hogue's, hated them. For me they are too thin, too long front to back and that palm swell is irritating. Found the stock grips (actually goncalo alves) to be more comfortable, which is not to say pleasant, just better than the Hogue. Were I to get back into the Redhawk business I'd consider getting Herrett's to make me a set of Roper stocks for it.
