My dad is workin out a deal right now on 2 handguns, and 10" Old Model Blackhawk .45LC and a S&W M29-3 3"

I havnt seen either, but he's prob going to get them together for 250. Anyway, theyre both in pretty rough shape cosmetically. What can be done to blue guns to bring them back to the shape they deserve to be in?

ill try to get some pictures to update, but in the meanwhile, what are some good restoration methods

will S&W and Ruger refresh them? I know the ruger will be upgraded if I send it in, but perhaps I can get the parts back from them as well.

What say you guys?

Judging by recent pics of refinished S&W's, I would not hesitate to send one to them. Other options would be Ford's and Accurate Plating. Ruger will also do a good job and do it cheaper than anybody else without question. They will do the transfer bar upgrade and personally, I would remove the original lockwork before sending it in.......just in case. They won't do as fine a polish as S&W, however and if that's what you want, then you want Accurate or Ford's.

Good call on removing the lock work beforehand, will they still add the transfer bar safety if it comes to them incomplete?

Does anyone know what ruger and smith charge for refinishing service?
