My Terminator is showing some wear.
Hell, it is a blued gun closing in on 30 years of age... and has been a carry piece most of its life.
I want to send it off and get it refinished so that I have no wear or corrosion issues.
If they can give it a once over and make sure it is in tip top shape... even better.
I am leaning towards hard chrome or maybe an NP3 or NP3+.
Of course a new set of grips would be bolted on also.

Any finish suggestions or places to send her off would be appreciated.

I gotta agree.

Wear where?

Or were the photos from 30 years ago when the gun was new?

If that sounds rude?
I just don't care anymore.

Holster wear on the front sides of the cyl, scratch down to the metal on the right front of the barrel.
I am a sweater... and have sweated the blue off of a couple of pistols.
Especially down behind the grips.
This one has not done that yet... YET.
The bluing on it is a LOT tougher than on my Delta Elite, that I have to send off for a refinish also.

If that's the current state of the guns finish, then I would say leave it as is because it looks great. If not, then I would go with Ron Mahovskys SS Chromium M hard chrome finish. Looks like stainless steel and gives the metal surface an extremely tough and durable finish that will last a very long time without showing the slightest sign of wear.

If its a carry gun I wouldn't do a thing to it. You might find out you had wish you hadn't afterwards. Like the saying goes, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

I am looking at this as a preventative step.
I dont want to go to put it on the stand one night and see the start of rust or some pitting.
I LOVE this pistol, it is an amazing shooter... and my favorite carry revolver.
I want to insure it has a long life and makes it to my son as blemish free as a carry gun can be.
It has steel showing in a few places, that I keep oiled.
Guess I am just looking at it as an ounce of prevention.

As I posted earlier, I have had nothing but great service and satisfaction with the work done by Ron Mahovsky on my guns over the years. Prices are very reasonable (when Ron did my first gun it actually cost me less to have it hard chrome plated than it would to have had it reblued), and the resulting finish will last blemish free for a very long time.

Us some birchwood casey barricade on it before you put it away. I have several surplus guns with bare metal showing and I keep them in a safe in my laundry room of all places. I have yet to see any rust.

Looks excellent from the pics, and unless you go with a very high end shop your refinish is unlikely to be as good. As I understand it, blue is part of your steel, so removing it removes part of the actual surface of the firearm. It's not something we should do unless it's truly necessary.

Also remember there's nothing particularly horrible about oxidation. The unblued parts should, if the firearm is well cared for as this one seems to be, fade gradually into a patina that will protect the steel from dangerous rust as well as blue. It's sort of a natural rust blue. The rust you need to worry about is active rust inside the thing working down into more fragile parts.

I love a gun with patina, what I dislike is pitting and actual rust.
I have experienced it enough to know that something with my bodys chemical make up will eat a blued steel gun.
I am considering sending it to Mahovsky's for their Hard Chrome.
I have read a lot of good things about them.
This is a working gun, it is worn a lot.
At the end of the day I remove the grips and clean under them, and wipe the whole thing down with Remoil.
Just trying to keep ahead of the rust.
I have caught it a few times under the grips already.

Is that an Astra .44 Mag? I almost bought a stainless Astra .44 mag with a long barrel. Instead, I bought a Taurus .44 mag 4".
I don't regret buying the Taurus .44 mag, at all. I do regret not getting the Astra to go along with it, but I was just out of tech school and pretty broke.

A carry weapon with good honest wear, what's to fix? Kroil is an amazing product used successfully to stop and retard any rust issues and if caught prior to pitting one would be hard pressed to tell if any rust had ever begun. I've used Kroil, Eezox, and CLP and have had zero rust issues. Your weapon looks just fine.
