I found my beloved Ruger 1911 45ACP stainless to much for me with older hands and have sold it and selling the ammo here.

I have a Star BM Series 9mm that I love but it only has a 8 round magazine. Looking for a compact 9mm to keep in the truck or camper in case of bad guys. Not a fan of plastic and considering the CZ 75 Compact but open to suggestions. even plastic.

The CZ75 Compact is a nice gun, maybe a little heavy, but a good one.
The PCR is the same size but lighter, I think they have an alloy frame.
I think the CZ P-01 is the same as the PCR but has a rail.
I'm a big CZ fan, so I recommend any CZ.
If you want a hammer fired compact, the P-07 is very nice, but has a polymer frame.
P-10c is about the same but striker fired.

Not debating which is best, but I've a vintage Ruger LC9, Ruger Max9 and Sar B6C and none have failed to feed or fire ... albeit they are polymer versions.

I too love my all metal CZ-75B, but have no direct experience with their all metal smaller versions.

I never was a fan of plastic guns either but the KelTec PF9 has change my thought process on that. It's accurate and reliable. I carry it in the pocket of any pants I am wearing.

I am a fan of the Sig P365

These are as good as it gets. Pick the size that suits you best, and remember, you'll have the option to change it later.
BTW, the slide rack is easy (GREAT racking grooves, not too much effort), and mild recoil impulse, even in the smaller iterations.

Man, that’s EXACTLY what I use my Star BM for.

If you’re just looking for a reason to justify another pistol purchase you’re in the right place. We’re great enablers.

What about an Sig 365? I’ve been pondering that one for a while.

Since you liked your SR1911 in 45 why not get one chambered for 9mm. The slide will be much easier to manipulate (manual of arms), recoil will be lighter, and you will have 10 or 11 rounds on board. If you spent any amount of time shooting the 45 this will be like coming home to the 1911s SA trigger and safeties...but easier on the old hands. Ask me how I know!

Hard to argue with the CZ 75 compact but I'd be hard pressed to use it as a truck gun. That duty goes to a very reliable and accurate Taurus G3c. I have recently picked up a S&W Shield Plus and would use it also.

A CZ-75 Compact is about as close as you will find in size and weight to your Star BM, but with a magazine capacity of 15+1.

The CZ pictured is not a CZ 75 compact. It's an extremely rare steel framed P06 with safety.

A CZ 75 compact has a steel frame with safety and no rail.

Both PCR and P01 are alloy framed and both are decockers only. The P01 just has a rail.

Oddly, the alloy framed PCR is lighter than the poly framed P07.

I have a PCR, P01, 75 compact and several other odd/rare CZ compact sized pistols in both steel and alloy. Can I feel the difference in shooting, yep, is it a huge difference, nope.

While the CZ75 series is a classic DA/SA hammer fired metal framed pistol, the slide has a lot less to grab onto compared to a 1911. This is something to consider with older hands.

I have a CZ75D PCR, which is the same size as the Compact. It's a great gun, but due to the slide riding inside the frame, the slide gripping area is maybe half of most other guns.

I dont own a compact autoloader yet and possibly may not ever. But I do want a 380 or 9mm. I'm not gonna rush out and buy either one, I'm in a "wait + see" mode. This thread is a big help.
