REM brass

I like to use Remington brass in reloading my larger center fire rifles ... works really well for me..... but then I'll use Remington in most any cartridge also....

Remington brass is ok not first or last on my list. I do have some surplus RA brass that Ive collected in 30 06 frome 52, 53 it has been good so far. I picked up almost 150 rounds of 45ACP bullets at a gun show recently. The stamp is RA 42 and every round fired with the only issue being coorosive ammo. A good cleaning has never hurt any of my guns anyway. I will see if the pistol brass is as good as the RA rifle brass. Due to having failure to fire twice with Remington factory loads I no longer buy it or use their primers. This is not intended to blast them but to insure history doesnt repeat itself with ammunition I use.

RP is my first choice ammo/ brass since early 70s.
Although now, esp with semi pistols, it's whatever I have on hand or luck up with off the range!

With hand gun RP brass it has a thinner wall thickness, which gives less neck tension. I believe it's softer too. I sort all mine out and save it for lead bullets. Once nice thing is how the primer pockets are cut, makes easy insertion of the primer.

THIS^^^^^^ I don't reload rifle cartridges but Rem. pistol brass is the worst stuff I have ever seen. I don't even pick it up from the range. It's is way too thin and will not give sufficient neck tension and splits sooner than any brand I have seen. All of my friends who reload feel the same way. Their rimfire ammo is also terrible.

I've always considered RP rifle brass to be very serviceable, and use it a lot. I've never had a regret.

I agree that their 45 acp brass is thinner than most. I know people who seek it out for cast loads for that reason.

I enjoy reading here because learning about other peoples take on a subject has enlightened me on the subject. I recently bought a bullet mould for 45 caliber bullets and willl load my surplus RA brass with it if other shooters of cast bullets are having success with it. Thanks for the thread

I think their ammo is junk. I'll still shoot it at the range if I happen to have some. I'll buy it only if it's cheap.

The brass however is good. I get good life out of the rifle brass.

It's not really a matter of cast vs. jacketed bullets if the brass is too thin. The same problem is still there. I have shot almost nothing but cast bullets for many years using Federal, Win. and Starline brass and the few times I used Rem. the cases would not hold the bullet in place even when carefully sized, expanded and crimped - or would split after only a few loadings. The other brands all worked perfectly and have given exceptional lifespan. I still have Win. surplus "WCC 72 match" brass that is thinner than Winchester's commercial brass that has been reloaded for years and years and not one has ever split. I think the best brass I have ever used has been Federal. This only regarding pistol brass.

I had set back issues with rem brass and handgun ended up scraping my rem brass , and will not use it anymore like said above case wall is thinner then others. Never chose to use it in rifle

I like and use lots of RP cases, both handgun and rifle.

I also find the handgun cases a bit thinner than others but it is never an issue for me.

Of late, I have not bought much RP cases because I rarely saw it. Starline for handgun has been very available and I just buy lots so I have sufficient inventory on hand for my needs.

I will agree with others, I do not like Remington rim fire ammunition.

Thanks guys , I use it for rifles & get a good number of loadings before neck splits start. But I can't find any on shelves or primers either . Was beginning to believe they wouldn't sell it , or couldn't sell it was my problem in finding some fro 7 mm

Rifle brass is great. Wish they made it in the cartridges I shoot.

I rarely split a 9mm case and have mixed head stamps (3,000) from most any maker. I also have anything from once fired range pickup to cases that I have loaded several times. Never had any neck tension issues to a degree that I had bullet setback. Then again I don't test based on head stamp but I have no signs of over pressure either. I guess when it comes to my 9mm brass I just load, clean, reload and repeat until they split.

Most of my 10mm brass is Starline I bought new with the exception of a 100 that I procured through shooting new ammo and the rare occasion where some one left their 10mm brass lay for me. Really only happened once where it was more than one. A real nice fellow that I never met, cant describe, may have even been a lady, left me around 20 brand new Sig 10mm brass just as shiny as could be laying all out by their lonesome. Ive always heard Starline makes good brass and so far I have not split 1 case...just give it time I recon.

I'm really not up on what rifle brass is good or not but I have some Remington and Federal brass for my current rifle, soon to be 2 and I know its a shame right? Every man needs at least two or 3 rifles minimum! A shot gun or 2? 3-4 handguns? At least one Wheel gun?

I do have some lake city .223 along with some FC and a few unknown's. Recon I need a rifle for them.....Sorry wrong subject.

Cheaper for me to procure it! Less than $20 a box for the Core-Lockt .270. Heck Midway has Winchester brand 270 for around 52 cents before shipping. By the time I pay for a bullet at 30 cents and the powder 21 cents I'm over a $1! so might as well procure it. YMMV

That's how I ended up choosing three of the calibers I have today. I found so much brass for them I decided to buy the caliber that uses it. Well one of them was from finding 1250 rounds of almost free ammo on top of all the brass. I'd already given away thousands of the brass a few times trying not to buy the 40 S&W but it ended up finding its way into my account anyway.
