Remember Candidate Obama's Civilian Defense Force?

Does anyone remember Candidate (and Senator) Obama's call for a Civilan Defense Force that would be just as strong and just as well funded as the military? Now President Obama says civilians should not be allowed to own "weapons of war". Was his CDF going to be armed with Red Ryder BB guns? Why isn't anyone, including Beck, Hannity and Rush playing this clip over and over?

We're looking at this the wrong way; he intended to gut the military back to parity with local bubba-militia units. He wouldn't seriously aspire to double the military budget, would he (talk about a chameleon)

No, but the CDF would certaintly be controlled by the State and be made up of people loyal to that authority.
