Hello, I am trying to take down a Remington 12c rifle. I took the screws out of the fore end and removed the set screw in the action bar. The next step it to unscrew the magazine tube to release the forearm and remove the action bar. From videos that I have watched, the threads on the magazine tube are very fine but unscrew fairly easily with hand pressure. Mine will not budge. I have applied all the pressure that I dare but I cannot get it to move at all. It is possible that someone in the past has taken it apart incorrectly and forced it back in or some other stupidity, I cannot be sure (new owner after 103 years). Maybe it has never been taken down and is just stuck after 103 years. The rifle is in decent shape, I would grade it 80% bright blue with only some freckling, so I don't think rust is the problem. I don't want to deform the tube as it is very thin metal.

Anyone have a similar situation or any ideas on how I can get this apart safely? As always, any information or ideas are greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Scott

Add a little acetone to the Kroil and wait 30 hours.
First make sure you need to remove the magazine tube. It’s been a while since I have had a M-12 in the shop but I don’t remember having to remove the magazine tube for a complete strip.
