Remington 380 auto Bullet Length?

I was wondering if anyone had the length to these bullets?

I'm gonna run some ballistic testing on these out of a 9mm and want to run it through quick load first, and yes they are going to destroy themselves on impact from the speed. Don't worry I carry gold dot and am just doing this for fun.

A lot of people use light ".380" slugs in the nine.. mainly for cost savings. I don't know the length of those though.

I measured 8 of them, measured .424" - .427", with most at .426".

I use to use them in 380, but now mostly using MBC Secret Agents or some plated. Still had about 125 sitting on the shelf though. Not that it matters, but the Remington 88gr JHP bullets i have are probably over 10 years old.

Not gonna happen.
In the real world, you will be doing good to get 1,400.

really? why is that? The program is designed for this kind of thing is it not?

All I know is look at anybodies reloading manual that shows 90 grain bullets in 9mm.

Lyman says 1,411 FPS tops with a 90 Sierra.
Hodgdon says 1,413 FPS tops with a 90 grain Speer.
Hornady says 1,400 FPS tops with a 90 grain Hornady.

Quick Load is at best a Scientific guess.

Load manuals are tested data in actual guns.

You can't get a 90 grain bullet moving 1,725fps out of a .38 Super or .357 SIG.
Let alone a 9x19 Luger.

the Remington 88gr JHP bullets i have are probably over 10 years old.

Mine are well over 10 years old, leftover from when I had a .380.

I would hate to see the pressure level of those at 1725 from a 9MM case.

Well like RCmodel said it's just a guess but I run my CZ 75b up to 42500psi and these aren't far from that. Also my manual's say the same but I'm guessing there capping pressure at 35k and use a OAL much shorter. I'm not saying I can get to 1700fps that's just what quickload said but I am sure I can beat the manuals.

I do need a chrono before I'll really know any velocity's but quickload hasn't blow any of my guns up yet.

I haven't tried those 88 gr. Rems., but I do load the 90 gr. XTP's in 9mm's all the time. I either run Longshot or HS6 under them, and they get going pretty goo, but certainly not 1700+ fps.. I've run them over a chronograph and they average about mid 1300's with a tad over mid range charges. Accuracy has been pretty good at 25', but because of their short profile, I wouldn't think they would do well at those velocities much beyond that distance.

My Son shot a large coyote a couple of weeks ago at near point blank range with one, and it went through and through, and left a pretty good size exit wound too.
